Vedo from Team Usher and Garrett Gardner from Team Shakira Are Eliminated.
So, I totally picked the correct eliminated contestants this week! I’m going to enjoy my perfect score while I can! Team Adam and Team Blake remain intact, which isn’t a shock, because they have the strongest teams. Two boys eliminated. Seven girls and 3 boys (well 4, including the two Swons). Looks like we’re heading for a clam fest! The Swon Brothers and Josiah Hawley should be able to stick around if they keep performing like they did this week. Kris Thomas isn’t long for this world, I’m afraid. The girls all are, really strong singers.
After the obligatory recap (didn’t ya’ll just do that for an hour prior to live rounds?) Carson mentions that voting records were broken. It all sounds very mysterious, as Carson offers no further information, like specific numbers. Also, each of the Top 12 charted on iTunes last night. But nobody hit the Top 10, which means nobody earned x10 bonus votes. Not that Carson mentioned that!
Robin Thicke, TI and Pharrell Williams with Vedo and Kris Thomas on backups (they can’t do much damage there) perform Robin’s single, “Blurred Lines.” Well, that had some cool 80’s goodness with a retro funk thing going on there.
Next week, the advisers will return to “reconnect with the artists they helped coach” during the battle rounds: Hillary Scott, Pharrell Williams, Sheryl Crow and stepping in for Shakira’s adviser, Joel Madden (he’s on The Voice Australia) will be Cee Lo Green. Now for some blah blah blah from the coaches. Hyperbole r us akaTime Wasters! Blake and his wife Miranda Lambert are celebrating an anniversary today. Aw.
Time for even more filler! Top 12 confessionals. Just an example: Judith sang kids songs once such as “Everybody farts and that’s OK.” Hilarity ensues.
Finally, some results. The Top 12 are on stage. Carson–maybe he’s hoping to make Vedo cry? Reminds him that his mom–who has since passed away from cancer–was in the studio during his audition. Then he asks poor Vedo how he will feel if he “survives.” Yeesh.
Yes, let’s get on with those results, shall we?
The first two finalists SAVED BY AMERICA ARE Kris Thomas from Team Shakira. I KNEW HE’D BE SAFE and The Swon Brothers from Team Blake. Of course they are! They sang that weepy song in tribute to George Jones. Sentimental country fans went crazy voting for them, I’m sure.
Next, Blake Shelton and his team, The Swon Brothers, Danielle Bradbery and Holly Tucker perform Blake’s single “Play Something County.” Blake is generous and gives everyone solos. They all rise to the occasion. Kudos. There were some great guitar licks on that!
Time for more LIVE ELIMINATIONS. The next two artists who are safe are: Sarah Simmons from Team Adam and Josiah Hawley from Team Usher.
Hillary Scott (who mentored for Team Adam) and her band, Lady Antebellum perform “Goodbye Town” with the ladies of Team Adam, each performing a little solo on the bridge. Not too shabby.
Yay. It’s Christina Milian in the “Sky Box.” And when I say “Yay” I really mean “Nooooo.” She asks The Swon Brothers, Kris Thomas and Josiah Hawley how they feel after America saved them. How do YOU THINK THEY FEEL CHRISTINA.
Now, it’s time for Carson to torture Michelle Chamuel. He asks she feels after coming so far in the competition, despite feelings that she doesn’t fit in. After emphasize that she has no desire to “fit in,” just that people love her for who she is, Michelle gives what feels like a goodbye speech. NOOO MICHELLE. You won’t be eliminated tonight
Time for two more who were Saved by America. Judith Hill from Team Adam is safe! Of course she is. And from Team Blake, Danielle Bradbery. Ditto.
Adam Levine covers The Cure’s “Lovesong”. Hmpf. Judith Hill, Sarah Simmons and Amber Carrington join him on stage. Yer a little pitchy there, Adam!
Two more artists are safe–.Michelle Chamuel from Team Usher and Amber Carrington from Team Adam. All of Team Adam is safe!
The remaining contestants are pretty nervous. Garrett Gardner wishes his dad a happy birthday, and is so happy he got this far. The next two saved by America ARE Holly Tucker from Team Blake. There is NO way Sasha isn’t safe! And, yes, Sasha Allen from Team Shakira is SAFE.
That means Vedo from Team Usher and Garrett Gardner from Team Shakira have been eliminated. MY PICKS. I’m so smart. Just for a minute. And without any sendoff, Carson waves goodbye. Until next week.
