The Voice season 18 kicks off on Monday Feb 24 and here’s a preview of a 4 chair Blind Audition. Actually, blues singer Nelson Cade III WOULD have received a 4 chair turn if a certain someone hadn’t blocked the newbie coach.
When Nelson launches into “Pride and Joy” by Stevie Ray Vaughan while accompanying himself on guitar, the coaches hit their buttons. But John Legend is quick to block new coach Nick Jonas while Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton look on, amused.

Nick notices right away that he’s blocked. Nevertheless, like an enthusiastic new student, he takes notes! “I’m jealous they get to fight for you,” Nick says. “No pun intended,” snarks John, singing a snip of Nick’s hit, “Still gets jealous!”
“Star” and “Wow” are the notes Nick took. Which immediately prompts Blake to mock him. And then everyone joins in on the hazing. “You could probably win this competition,” declares Nick. (Hm…..)
John notes that he was the first to turn, and agrees with Nick, declaring Nelson a star. When Nelson mentions that he recently played with Stevie Wonder, John boasts that they are good friends. “We could reunite you guys!”
Kelly loves his smile and his spirit. “Your personality, that’s gonna beam through,” Kelly says, “So please be you and don’t try to be anybody else,”
Blake compliments Nelson’s guitar playing. “That was such an amazing guitar part,” he says. Blake sees Nelson as an artist that could fit into many genres. “You’re gonna have a hell of a run on this thing. I would be proud to be your coach.”
Which coach will Nelson choose? Tune in to The Voice season 18 premiere on NBC Monday Feb 24 at 8 PM ET/PT to find out.
