BLOODBATH!!! Dun dun dun It’s the Voice season 12 semi-finals week otherwise known as BLOODBATH WEEK. Eight finalists will perform for your votes, but only FOUR will advance to next week’s final. Here’s how it will work: On Tuesday, the Top 3 will advance straight through to the finals. The bottom 2 will be immediately eliminated, and the singers in 4th, 5th and 6th place will perform for the 4th spot, determined by the instant twitter save. YIKES.

If that’s not enough damage for ya, there’s a new twist. For the first time ever, the artists team up for “competitive duets.” and according to NBC Vote rules, favorite duets can only be voted on via twitter hashtage during the overnight voting window:

Here are the semi-final duet pairings.

  • Aliyah Moulden and Hunter Plake
  • Brennley Brown and Lauren Duski
  • Chris Blue and Vanessa Ferguson
  • Jesse Larson and TSoul

Hunter and Aliyah? OK then. It’s like the rest of the contestants were easily paired, leaving out Aliyah and Hunter as the oddballs. A duet vote will count as a vote for each in the pairing. Well then…that could have some interesting consequences.

Oh right….Rankings!

8. Vanessa Ferguson – Team Alicia Keys –  Sadly, Vanessa is last on my list. She’s one of my favorites, but some of her song choices are difficult. Even if she gets a chance to sing for the save on Tuesday, I can’t imagine her advancing to the final.

7. Aliyah Moulden – Team Blake Shelton – Aliyah is a pretty plucky gal. Her performances manage to both charm and pull at the heart strings. Either she or TSoul will get to sing for that 4th spot.

6. TSoul – Team Blake Shelton – TSoul and Blake have been doing a pretty great job choosing songs lately. Will he sing for the save? Depends if he and his coach choose another winning tune.

5. Brennley Brown – Team Gwen Stefani –  I had a hard time placing Brennley and Jesse this week. Brennley has fans, but I think Jesse is moving up behind her. He’s the kind of performing singing show fans love.  Her song choice last week, “Anyway” was a bit of a misstep. She best at singing tender country folk ballads.

4. Chris Blue – Team Alicia Keys – For my money, Chris is the best all around performer of this lot. He’s got an incredible instrument. His singing is effortless and full of confidence. He really needs to make the finale, ya’ll.

3. Jesse Larson – Team Adam Levine –  Not only is Jesse the kind of performer that singing show viewers love, but he’s also the last singer on Team Adam. The coach will work hard to keep him in this week. And I wouldn’t put it past Voice producers to give him a decent performance spot in order to help him into the final.

2. Hunter Plake – Team Gwen Stefani –  I cannot imagine Hunter and his inventive, mesmerizing covers not making the finals.

1. Lauren Duski – Team Blake Shelton –  Lauren is still the one to beat, I think. She’s got nerves of steele and the ability to sing with both strength and passion. Plus she makes it all look super easy. Oh, and radio ready. Blake seems really invested in this girl. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t stay involved with her career after the competition.
