The Voice season 4 duo The Swon Brothers just dropped a new song “Travelin’ On” with special guest artist, the legendary Vince Gill.
The brothers, who hail from Oklahoma, have had plenty of help from fellow Okies along the way, including their The Voice coach Blake Shelton. Later, another Oklahoman, Carrie Underwood, invited the two to open on her 2016 Storyteller tour. Now, another state denizen, Gill, sings and harmonizes on “Travelin On.”
The country duo, who have released music independently since parting ways with Arista Nashville in 2015, co-wrote the 70’s inspired song with Jonathan Dean and Stephen Hunley. The brothers were so grateful to Gill for appearing on their song, that they posted a long thank you note on social media that says in part:
… You sent us a congratulations video during our days on The Voice and that meant the world to us. You have always answered your phone ever since. You’ve given guitar advice, production advice, and talked about an amazing song catalog that you continue to share with the world through the Eagles. It’s a bucket-list moment to share a song with you, Vince. And I just wanna let you know that we are so grateful that you said yes. Cheers my Okie friend. From the bottom of our hearts, thanks for being a part of our little song about our time on the road thus far.
Listen to the throwback country rock song below. It reminds me a little of the Pure Prairie League, a band Gill played with as a young man. (Fun fact!)
