The Jennifer Hudson Show Returns for Season 2 September 18

Despite the WGA and SAG union strikes, The Jennifer Hudson Show will return for season 2 on September 18.

The series, hosted by American Idol season 3 alum and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, features celebrity interviews, topical stories, community heroes, viral sensations, and music. In its premiere season, The Jennifer Hudson Show lit up daytime with viral sensations, community heroes, and celebrity interviews. And according to an email announcement, there will be an “unbelievable surprise” featured in the Season 2 premiere.

The Jennifer Hudson Show received six Daytime Emmy nominations in its debut season, including a nomination for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series in addition to Promotional Announcement, Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video; Outstanding Live Sound, Mixing and Sound Editing; Costume Design, Styling; and Hairstyling and Makeup.

Jennifer is gearing up to release new music. “I’m going to do an album soon,” Jennifer told Real Simple magazine, in a September cover piece. “I’m doing a talk show, but that does not mean I’m going to stop singing or acting. It’s my passion to do all of these things.”

The singer has previously released three studio albums: her Grammy-winning self-titled 2008 debut, 2011’s I Remember Me, and 2014’s JHUD.

Additionally, Jennifer won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Host in a Talk or News/Information (Series or Special) — Individual or Ensemble for The Jennifer Hudson Show.

The youngest EGOT ever

Jennifer is the youngest artist to achieve EGOT status. She has won all four major awards: An Oscar for her role as Effie White in the 2006 film adaption of the Broadway musical Dreamgirls, two Grammys for Best R&B Album in 2009 and for Best Musical Theater Album 2017. She nabbed a Daytime Emmy in 2021 for co-producing “Baba Yaga,” an animated short. Her Tony award as producer of 2021 Best Musical A Strange Loop sealed the deal.
