A new episode of The Amazing Race airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap here.
For this leg of the race, the teams must fly to Naples, Italy. All teams will be on the same flight. Alyssa & Josiah won the Express Pass in the previous leg, but they hope they won’t have to use it today so they can save it for the following leg.
The teams land in Naples. They must take taxis to Castel Sant’Elmo to find their next clue. The teams get out of their taxis and buy tickets for a funicular to reach Castel Sant’Elmo. Han & Holden and Jonathan & Ana are the first to find their next clue. They must find Pulcinella Statue for their next clue.
Brett & Mark, Alyssa & Josiah, and Carson & Jack find the clue next, but Han & Holden and Jonathan & Ana manage to get on the funicular back to where they came from before the other teams. However, Brett & Mark are the first to find the statue. They are followed by Carson & Jack and Alyssa & Josiah. They get their next clue and learn they have a Detour to complete: Mandolin or Mozzarella. Mandolin requires teams to assemble the final pieces of the instrument. Mozzarella requires teams to properly make six twists of mozzarella cheese. The three teams in the lead choose the Mozzarella Detour.
Even though they had a lead, Jonathan & Ana and Han & Holden still cannot find Pulcinella Statue. Both teams are working together, but they are lost. However, they eventually find it and get their next clue. Jonathan & Ana choose the Mandolin Detour. Han & Holden choose Mozzarella.
Brett & Mark get four out of six of their mozzarella twists completed. Meanwhile, Jonathan is making headway with the mandolin. He plays guitar, so he feels comfortable with this task. Carson & Jack get their mozzarella inspected twice, but only one is correct. However, they get all of the mozzarella correct on their next try. Brett & Mark complete the Detour shortly afterwards too. They can now make their way to the Montesanto Quarter to find their next clue. Meanwhile, Jonathan & Ana complete the Mandolin Detour. They can make their way to Montesanto Quarter too.
Alyssa & Josiah are the next team to complete the Mozzarella Detour. Han & Holden are now in last place as the only team still working on a Detour task. As for the other teams, Jonathan & Ana are the first to reach their next task. They must do an old-fashioned grocery delivery. They must deliver produce, sausage, and cheese up to a balcony of one of the houses on the street with the use of a bucket. Jonathan & Ana are halfway through the task by the time Brett & Mark get started.
Han & Holden finally complete the Detour and make their way to Montesanto Quarter. Meanwhile, Jonathan & Ana are the first to complete the delivery task. They get their next clue and learn they must proceed to Ristorante da Ettore. Brett & Mark are right behind them in second place. Alyssa & Josiah and Carson & Jack are still working on their deliveries.
Carson & Jack and Alyssa & Josiah complete making their deliveries, putting them in third and fourth place respectively. Han & Holden finally get started on their deliveries after all the other teams have left. While driving, Carson & Jack’s taxi manages to pass Jonathan & Ana’s.
Carson & Jack and Brett & Mark are the first to arrive at the restaurant. They learn they have a Roadblock to complete. One team member must make a pizza from scratch. Carson and Brett choose to do the Roadblock. Jonathan & Ana arrive shortly afterwards, and Ana chooses to do the Roadblock. Alyssa & Josiah arrive next with Alyssa doing the Roadblock. Han & Holden are still working on their deliveries.
Ana is the first to complete the Roadblock, and she successfully makes a pizza on her first try. Jonathan & Ana can now proceed to the Pit Stop: Castel Nuovo. Brett completes the Roadblock shortly afterwards too.
Jonathan & Ana arrive at the Pit Stop. Phil gives them the good news. Jonathan & Ana are Team #1! They have won a trip to Mexico City, Mexico. Brett & Mark arrive later as Team #2.
Alyssa completes the Roadblock next, but Carson is struggling. He’s made multiple pizzas, but all of them have failed. Han & Holden have completed their deliveries and are on their way to the Roadblock. Han & Holden even arrive before Carson finishes the task. However, Carson finally completes the Roadblock while Han gets started.
We next see Alyssa & Josiah arrive at the Pit Stop as Team #3. Han completes the Roadblock on her first attempt. She and Holden can proceed to the Pit Stop. Carson & Jack haven’t arrived there yet, but is it too late?
Carson & Jack arrive at the Pit Stop as Team #4. Han & Holden arrive later as Team #5. However, Phil gives them some surprising news: This is a non-elimination leg!
