Pop superstar, Taylor Swift, who has been steadfast in her refusal to stream ANY of her music on Spotify and other platforms like it, has suddenly decided to stream her mega-hit album, 1989, on the new Apple streaming service. She tweeted her change of heart to fans this morning. And this, after she called the company out for expecting artists to bear the brunt of offering a 3 month free trial to potential subscribers.
All it took was Apple almost immediately reversing their decision not to pay artists for those three free months, after Taylor let her letter loose to the internet. The singer’s letter, and Apple’s reversal garnered mega publicity for both. Taylor swears she hasn’t cut a special deal with Apple. What I don’t understand is, if Spotify is the devil, what makes Apple any better if they aren’t willing to pay her substantially more?
Some of you smelled a publicity stunt when Taylor’s letter hit the internet. Pauses. Grabs tinfoil hat. Affixes firmly on to my head… Hm.
What do YOU think about Taylor’s sudden change of heart?
After the events of this week, I've decided to put 1989 on Apple Music…and happily so.

In case you're wondering if this is some exclusive deal like you've seen Apple do with other artists, it's not.

This is simply the first time it's felt right in my gut to stream my album. Thank you, Apple, for your change of heart.
