SYTYCD Alum, Kent Boyd to Guest Star on Bunheads (VIDEO)

Are any of you tuning into the new ABC Family series Bunheads? I’ve become TOTALLY OBSESSED with this show, which began airing episodes in June.

Broadway star, Sutton Foster stars as an aging Las Vegas showgirl whose dance career had long ago gone off the tracks. She impulsively marries an admirer and winds up with him in the tiny California coastal town of Paradise. There, she has to contend with a disapproving mother-in-law–also a dancer–who not only lives with her son, but runs a dance studio out of his house.

The action shifts between the adults and a quartet of teen aged dancers who deal with typical adolescent drama. The cast is fantastic–from the young actresses who play the “bunheads” to Sutton Foster who is an absolute REVELATION  as Michele– a cynic with a heart of gold. She’s smart and quirky, but not in that totally annoying and cloying Zooey Dechanel way.

The series was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino who helmed Gilmore Girls. Fans of that show will find Bunhead’s quick, witty, pop-culture laden dialog familiar.

I’ve been toying with recapping the show, but I don’t have time to do it myself. Any fans out there are welcome to have at it, however!

In the next episode, set to air August 6, So You Think You Can Dance alum, Kent Boyd, will guest star as one of Paradise Dance Academy’s star pupils. In this exclusive clip from Reality Rocks, Kent’s character, Jordan, rehearses a Ginger Rogers/Fred Astaire inspired number with Sasha (Julia Goldani Telles). It’s pretty adorable. According to Kent, his role may be expanded. YES!
