SYTYCD 10: Mac’s Top 14 Power List

Last week, my #7 Boy and my #7 girl went home. Not bad.

THE BOYS:

7) Curtis Holland
He got such incredibly negative feedback last week, I was surprised they saved him. His ladder dance was OK, but with two consecutive weeks in the bottom, Curtis’s time on the show is not going to last into the top 10.

6) Alan Bersten
Alan has now been in the bottom twice. His only saving grace may be that Curtis has also been in the bottom twice, and they seem to like Alan a bit more than Curtis. I’d be surprised if either boy was in the Top 10.

5) Nico Greetham
I don’t think Nico had a great week last week, and he might appear in the bottom this week. It shouldn’t be a problem, because I don’t think the judges will cut him in his first appearance against either Alan or Curtis, who would be on their third.

4) Tucker Knox
Tucker isn’t lighting fires, but he’s staying safe.I loved last weeks dance, but America hasn’t been connecting with Jenna (his partner) who has been in the bottom for 2 weeks in a row. Will Jenna repeat a third time? Will she be SAFE a third time? Their dance last week was good enough that they should both be safe.

3) Paul Karmiryan
I didn’t quite love Paul’s dance as much as I thought. I considered dipping him below Tucker, but I think Paul has played a better “long game”, and I think he gets more votes.

2) Aaron Turner
Aaron gets mad props for tackling the quick-step, but the choreography on Fik-Shun’s routine created one of the most memorable routines of the season. Whereas, that was not Aaron and Jasmine’s best routine, even though they did a good job on it.

1) Fik-Shun
Fik-Shun is benefiting from excellent choreography, and finally inching away from Aaron. These two are incredibly close, and they could keep flip-flopping every week if needed.

THE GIRLS:
7) Alexis Juliano
Alexis and Nico performed first. Their dance was forgettable, not great. I can’t see a bottom 3 without Alexis in it, and I don’t know if they’ll keep her around much longer.

6) Makenzie Dustman
Makenzie has appeared twice in the bottom 3, and will be in the same boat as Jenna if she hits the bottom. I think they’ll cut Makenzie over Jenna, but both of them should hope for a bottom appearance from Alexis. If Alexis doesn’t hit the bottom for some reason, a bloodbath between Makenzie and Jenna will ensue, and I think Makenzie will lose.

5) Jenna Johnson
I can’t ignore the fact that Jenna has been in the bottom 3 twice in a row. I don’t think Nigel will ignore it either, if Jenna is up against anyone I’m ranking higher than her. The judges seem to like Jenna though, and remain baffled every time she hits the bottom. They’ve already lost the other ballroom girl, which gives Jenna another slight edge over Makenzie.

4) Malece Miller
Malece hit her hip hop routine hard. I think her and Hayley are almost evenly matched. Both of them are outperforming their male partners, but Malece has only been going strong for two weeks now, whereas Hayley has been hitting this the whole time.

3) Hayley Erbert
Hayley has been trying to mix-up the Amy/Jasmine top 2 that is inevitably going to happen. Until she gets a stronger male partner, it isn’t going to happen. She’s constantly outperforming Curtis, who brings nothing to the table for her. Once the dancers start getting all-stars at the top 10, we might see a surge from Hayley. It’d be interesting to see her do something with a partner who is as strong, if not stronger, than she is.

2) Jasmine Harper
She’s did a valiant job with the quick-step, but Amy’s routine will be remembered in future seasons. It’s definitely going to be called on as a repeat routine in the finale.

1) Amy Yakima
For the same reason Fik-Shun is #1. That routine was just better choreographed. As with Fik-Shun/Aaron, the Amy/Jasmine relationship is just as tight, and will continue to flip-flop as the season progresses with the All-Stars.

Join me tonight, as I live blog the Top 14. Will Alexis and Curtis be headed home? Would Nico/Hayley be a better pairing? I’m convinced Bluprint was sent home, because Nigel refused to put Bluprint with either Hayley or Malece, but he won’t feel the same way about putting Nico with either Malece or Hayley (or for that matter, Paul or Tucker, if Alexis isn’t in the bottom).
