Survivor Season 46 Week 8 Recap and Live Blog

A new episode of Survivor airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap here.

The castaways from the first tribal council return to camp. Ben says Tim was his first friend, so he’s sad to see him go. Tim helped keep Ben sane in the game, and Ben gets emotional talking about Tim in his confessional. Meanwhile, Q wants to talk game, but he’s frustrated that everyone is having friendly chats at the moment. The second group will arrive soon, and Q wants to talk before they do. Soon enough, the second group returns to camp. They are surprised to see Venus was not voted out. Venus tells everyone that Tevin lied to her all day, and it was karma that got Soda out of the game. Tevin is amused that Venus is taking credit, but he’s fine staying quiet about it now. Liz thinks she should get credit too since she’s wanted Soda out of the game a long time ago.

It’s the morning of Day 13. Charlie wants to stay on Q’s good side. He says Q is forming alliances, and we see a scene earlier when Charlie was recruited into the Journey 6 alliance by Q. Also in the alliance are Maria, Hunter, and Tevin. Charlie has taken Tim’s spot. Charlie is not convinced that he wants to stay loyal to the Journey 6. He thinks he’ll be stuck with a bunch of people he can’t beat at the end.

Hide and seek

Q suggests they play a game of hide and seek. He says it’s all for fun, but Q believes he can get a read on his fellow tribe members based on how they approach the game. By the end of the game, no one could find Tim or Hunter. Tim hid behind bushes with his shirt covering him and Hunter was up in a tree. Q says in his confessional that Ben and Hunter made a mistake trying so hard to win a game of hide and seek. They are now on Q’s radar.

Venus believes she orchestrated the blindside against Soda. She explains how the move was made to Tevin. Tevin is trying to hold in his laughter since he was the one to get the numbers to vote out Soda. In her confessional, Venus says Tevin is like a fish out of water when it comes to Survivor strategy. After Venus walks away, he laughs and retells everything to Liz. In her confessional, Liz is bothered by how Tevin is acting like a mastermind. She says Tevin should be the target now.

Tevin and Tiffany talk game. Tiffany says Venus is a nuisance, but she’s not a threat. They can keep Venus around, but they’ll have to wait until after the immunity challenge to see who to vote out. Tevin is bothered, and he shares his frustration with Q. If Tiffany is unwilling to vote someone out of the Journey 6 alliance, then does that mean she would turn on someone inside the alliance? Q says Tiffany isn’t playing the game how he wants.

Immunity challenge

Later, Q talks to Tiffany to get some clarification. Tiffany suggests voting out Maria or Ben at the next vote. Q is unhappy Tiffany wants to target an alliance member, so now he wants Tiffany to go. Q tells this to Maria, and he also lets her know that Tiffany has a hidden immunity idol. Maria feels like she can trust Q. She says Q plays the game based on trust. If someone in his alliance wavers at all, then he wants them out of the game.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. It’s an endurance challenge that has the castaways holding onto a pole. The last person hanging on will win immunity. Before the challenge begins, Jeff offers them a bag of rice. In order to get the rice, they must have four people sit out of the challenge. Tevin asks about negotiation, and Jeff says he’ll let two people give up their votes for the bag of rice. No one wants to give up their vote. Eventually, Q and Liz volunteer to sit out. No one else volunteers, so they do not get the bag of rice. Q and Liz will still compete in the challenge.

The challenge begins. Q and Liz are the first to fall. Kenzie drops next. Ben is the next one out of the challenge, and he’s followed by Maria. Q mutters how they could’ve had the rice. Tiffany slides down next, and she’s followed by Tevin. After fifteen minutes, only Charlie, Hunter, and Venus remain in the challenge. Venus was looking very solid, but she’s the next one out of the challenge. Charlie drops next. Hunter wins immunity!

A plan to vote out Tevin

The tribe returns to camp after the immunity challenge. Q is frustrated that they gave up rice. He says it was idiotic that people wanted to try the challenge even though it was unlikely they would’ve beaten Hunter. They all saw Hunter hiding in the tree during hide and seek, so he thinks they all should’ve known Hunter would win the challenge. Meanwhile, Hunter, Tevin, and Q reconfirm plans to blindside Tiffany tonight.

However, Liz tells Ben, Maria, and Charlie that she wants to vote out Tevin tonight. She later tells Venus that she wants Tevin out too. In her confessional, Liz says she wants to start taking control. Ben lets Kenzie know about the plan to vote out Tevin, and she says she’s on board. Tiffany finds out about the plan, and she is on board with this too. Tevin still has an extra vote, so that’s a good enough reason to vote out Tevin tonight. Later, Tiffany lets Q know that the plan is to vote out Tevin tonight. Q doesn’t believe this until Liz tells him that it’s true. Q gives Hunter a heads up later. He says Tevin is leaving tonight, but Hunter doesn’t think it’s true.

Tribal council

Hunter wants to try to save Tevin, so he talks to Charlie, Maria, Liz, and Q about the vote tonight. Q thinks he made a mistake giving Hunter a heads up; he thinks he should’ve stayed quiet. Other people notice this group chatting, and Venus comes over briefly. Before the chat ends and after Venus walks away, Hunter says he wants to vote out Tiffany and Liz says she wants to vote out Tevin. Maria and Charlie are in the swing vote position. They discuss their options with each other. They admit Tevin is a big threat, but Tiffany threw out Maria’s name and she has an idol in her possession. Regardless, Charlie says the alliance of six has no legs moving forward.

It’s time for tribal council. Jeff starts the discussion with the rice negotiation. Q admits he had a temper tantrum about losing the rice. He points out only one person was going to win the challenge and only one person would be voted out tonight. Liz was frustrated too since her food allergies limit what she can eat. Tiffany says food may not have been as important as safety. Q also asks for everyone to vote for him tonight. Everyone is confused. Q says he feels responsible for whomever may get voted out tonight due to his mistake, so he wants to take the fall. Tevin says this is out of the blue. People begin whispering. Q reiterates that he feels responsible and he wants everyone to have a new opportunity, but he doesn’t go into further detail.

Who will be voted out?

Kenzie says it won’t be a fresh start for her since Q could be part of her plans moving forward. Tevin says he won’t coddle someone to stay in a game for a million dollars. Eventually, everyone is whispering as they try to make sense about what’s happening. Q tells Kenzie and Tiffany that they didn’t have the numbers to vote out Tevin tonight. Maria and Charlie don’t know what to do. Do they stay with the plan to vote out Tiffany? Tevin says Q is too unhinged and he should go. Charlie reveals to Tiffany that Q told him and Maria about Tiffany’s idol. Tiffany is shocked, and she immediately tells Kenzie. Kenzie is surprised about this revelation too. Liz says she still wants to vote for Tevin while Tevin suggests voting out Venus. Finally, the whispers end and it’s time for the vote.

We see Tiffany vote for Tevin and Tevin vote for Venus. But who will be voted out?

Before Jeff reads the votes, no one plays an idol.

The first vote is for…

Venus

Tevin

Venus

Tevin

Tevin

Tevin

Tevin

Tevin

Tevin is the ninth person voted out and the second member of the jury. Tevin is blindsided, but he takes his elimination in stride.

And that wraps up tonight’s episode of Survivor. Thanks for reading, and come back next week for another live recap.
