Survivor 35 Heroes Healers & Hustlers Week 2 Recap and Live Blog

A new episode of Survivor airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap and join the discussion here.

The episode begins with the Heroes returning to camp after tribal council. Chrissy did not play the super idol; its power is now expired. However, she is planning to use the idol as a decoy idol later on. Alan feels good about painting a target on JP and Ashley’s backs, but Ashley is really bothered by his actions at tribal council. She doesn’t want to work with him anymore. In his confessional, Ben is aware of the fractures in the alliance, and he doesn’t know which side to go with. He says it’s every man for himself.

At the Hustlers tribe, Ryan says they have lived up to the “Hustler mantra” due to their work ethic at camp. He also believes he is in a good spot with his tribe. He still has a tight duo alliance with Devon, but he finds Simone to be weird. We hear from Simone, and she is uncomfortable living in the elements. Some people are annoyed by her demeanor, but Ali sees value in Simone. She wants to pull Simone to her side as a potential ally.

Over at the Healers tribe, we see Jessica and Cole fishing together. Cole is attracted to Jessica, but he thinks Jessica will probably just see him as a little kid due to a six-year age gap. Elsewhere in the Healers tribe, Mike and Joe are bonding over the fact they find themselves to be the odd men out physically due to everyone else on the tribe being more attractive than them. Joe still sees Mike as his biggest target, but he admits Mike has grown on him. Later on, Joe stumbles onto a clue to the hidden immunity idol painted on a tree. He decides to share this info with Cole since he believes the clue alludes to the raft Cole used to go fishing. After Cole sees the clue for himself, he figures out the clue actually refers to the water well. The two of them go digging for the idol around the well, and Joe finds the hidden immunity idol. Joe is happy to have found it, but he’s worried that Cole knows about it too. He says he might have to put a target on Cole’s back down the line.

Back at the Heroes tribe, JP goes fishing and brings back lobster back to camp. He’s still bothered about the power couple label Alan put on him and Ashley, so he wants to clear things up with Chrissy. The two of them talk game and consider working together. In her confessional, Chrissy admits JP is useful in challenges, but she doesn’t think he’s smart. She also doesn’t trust Ashley, but she does trust Ben. Chrissy approaches Ben, and we see the two of them agree to work together in the game and be an actual power couple.

Back at the Hustlers tribe, Patrick wants to be the outgoing guy at camp and keep everyone happy. However, Lauren finds him too annoying and loud; she wants him to just sit still. Later on, Lauren talks to Ali and lets her know she’s annoyed by Patrick. Ali is concerned about how Patrick is rubbing people the wrong way. Ali agreed to work with Patrick, but she feels like she has to babysit him. She’s now unsure whether or not she still needs Patrick in the game with her.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. They will have to dive into the ocean to retrieve bundles of puzzle pieces by maneuvering them out of a cage. The first tribe to assemble their sign post puzzle will win immunity. Along with immunity, they are playing for a fishing kit. The challenge begins, and the Hustlers take a lead as Ashley and Cole struggle to retrieve a bundle. Eventually, JP and Roark collect bundle pieces too, but the Hustlers maintain their lead. They return to the platform to begin assembling their puzzle first, but the Heroes get all their pieces too. The Healers are struggling and still don’t have their puzzle pieces by the time the Heroes and Hustlers are working on the puzzle. However, the Healers manage to get their pieces and return to the platform. All three tribes are now working on the puzzle, but it’s anyone’s game now as they are all struggling with the puzzle. The Healers come from behind, and they get it right. Healers win immunity! It’s now down to the Hustlers and Heroes, and the Heroes put the puzzle together too. Heroes win immunity! Hustlers will go to tribal council tonight. Before the commercial break, we hear a confessional from Devon. He says Simone is their weakest tribe member and should be voted out tonight.

The Hustlers return to camp, and Simone apologizes for her performance at assembling the puzzle. She is aware she is on the chopping block, but she wants to use Lauren’s dislike for Patrick to her advantage. Simone, Ali, and Lauren talk game alone together, and Lauren is on board with voting out Patrick. At the shelter, Patrick and Ryan agree that Simone will be leaving tonight. Ali also agrees with voting out Simone when Patrick approaches her about the plan. In her confessional, she is aware that Patrick is unpredictable, but she feels he trusts her the most. However, Ali and Ryan talk game before leaving for tribal council. They believe they have Simone under their thumbs, so now they are considering taking out Patrick since he might be a liability down the line. Ryan says predictability is the most valuable trait in an ally, and he calls Patrick unpredictable. However, he sees Simone as very smart and a possible threat. He says the vote will come down to whom he trusts more.

At tribal council, Ryan compares tribal council as a birthday party, but Lauren says it’s more like a funeral. Ali says the goal tonight is to make the decision that will benefit the tribe. Patrick says he wants to keep the tribe strong. Ryan says everyone has a different plan tonight. Simone says that they should establish a strong foundation of people to work with in this game. Jeff asks Patrick about trust, and he says he feels like he can trust most of the people here. When Jeff calls out Patrick for saying “most,” Patrick backpedals and says that he actually trust everyone. Patrick is now nervous, and he asserts he is a trustworthy person. He doesn’t want to go home, nor does anyone else. Afterwards, it’s time for the vote.

Jeff reads the votes. The first vote is for…
