A new episode of Survivor: Kaoh Rong airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap and join the discussion here.
The episode begins where last week’s left off. The tribe reacts to Neal having to be medically evacuated from the game. Joe is concerned about his alliance’s chances after losing his former Brain ally. Jason, however, is confident about his place in the game. He believes it is 7 – 3 as the Brains will be picked off one by one. Aubry compares the current dynamics as high school. She sees the jocks and the pretty people together as the nerds are on the outs. However, she is hopeful she can find a crack in their alliance so she can put herself in a better position going forward.
The next morning, Jason opens up to his tribe members about his daughter. She has autism, and he tells them about having to take her to therapy. While he’s sharing this story, Cydney says in her confessional how Jason opening up about his daughter has strategic value to it. She wants to make sure she goes to the end with people she can beat.
It’s time for the reward challenge. They have been divided into two teams, and Julia and Aubry were team captains. On the yellow team are Julia, Nick, Debbie, Scot, and Tai. On the blue team are Aubry, Cydney, Michele, Joe, and Jason. The tribe must help one tribe member get across from one platform to another with poles they will carry that the designated tribe member will walk across. Once that tribe member makes it to the other platform, all the tribe members must simultaneously stand on a small platform. The first tribe to finish will win ice cream. Walking across the poles are Julia and Aubry. The yellow team gets an early lead as Aubry continuously loses her balance standing on the poles and falls into the water. The blue team tries to switch it up by having Michele and then Cydney be the one to walk across the poles, but the challenge is not even close. Julia makes it to the other platform without falling into the water once and all of the yellow team stand on the small platform together. Yellow team wins reward! Before we go into commercial break, we see a confessional from a tearful Aubry being upset that nothing good is going her way with losing Neal and then losing the reward challenge.
The winning team enjoys the ice cream back at camp, and they sit twenty feet away from the losing tribe members. Jason tells them they can be loud about having the ice cream, which bothers Michele. She appreciated how the winning team was being mindful of the other tribe members’ feelings. She thinks Jason thinks he’s in charge of the tribe. While the winning team eats their ice cream, Scot opens up about his family. Julia appreciated Scot opening up and she believes he’s someone she can work with.
The next day Scot and Jason get worried about an all-girls alliance. Nick isn’t concerned at all, but he goes up to Julia and shares Scot and Jason’s concerns with her. She reassures him there is no all-girls alliance. While Nick is talking to Julia, Cydney notices and finds Nick’s behavior suspicious. She thought Nick was being too transparent, and she didn’t appreciate it. She even calls Nick out in front of him, Scot, and Jason. She’s mad Scot and Jason are concerned about there being an all-girls alliance. Scot then takes Cydney aside to talk about Cydney confronting them. She is bothered that the guys are allowed to talk to whomever they want, but they get suspicious if she talks to the other girls. She knows that the plan is to split the votes to vote out a former Brain tribe member, but she’s hoping it will be a guy who gets voted out tonight.
It’s time for the immunity challenge. It’s an endurance challenge as they must stand on a perch while holding onto handles behind their heads. The challenge begins, and people are in obvious discomfort. However, no one falls off. Jeff then begins to tempt the contestants with food. If they are confident they will not be in trouble at tribal council tonight, then they can drop out of the challenge and enjoy some food. Before Jeff brings out the dish, Julia drops out. She couldn’t handle it anymore. Jeff tempts the remaining contestants with a plate of pizza and brownies. Jason, Scot, Joe, and Michele drop out for the food. Tai is especially struggling in the challenge, and Jeff asks him if he thought about dropping out. He says no since he wants to see how far he can push his body. He also says he wants to make sure a Brain doesn’t win immunity. Nick agrees and candidly says that a Brain will be voted out tonight. Afterwards, Debbie, Aubry, and Nick are the next three to fall off. Only Tai and Cydney remain in the challenge. 40 minutes later, Tai and Cydney are still hanging on. Cydney looks very comfortable as Tai is shaking and looking close to falling off. However, Cydney drops out of nowhere. Tai wins immunity!
The tribe returns to camp, and Nick talks to Aubry about the vote. He tells her that they will be splitting the vote between Debbie and Joe. He advises Aubry to vote for Debbie. Nick says in his confessional that he is taking advantage of the fact that Aubry is alone and has no one. However, Nick’s behavior is bothering Cydney. She didn’t appreciate his arrogance at the immunity challenge, and she wants him out. Cydney goes up to Debbie and Aubry, and she tells them to vote out Nick. In her confessional, Debbie said she was hoping Nick would’ve approached her about voting out Scot or Jason, but she says the early bird gets the worm. Later, Cydney approaches Julia and Michele about voting out Nick. She also tells them she already got Debbie and Aubry on board. Michele, however, is unsure about this. She says Nick is someone she can see working with in the game, and Julia is worried Scot and Jason will be against them if they vote out Nick. They don’t know if it’s the right time to make this move.
It’s time for tribal council. There is immediate talk about how the Brains are on the outs and everyone else is closely aligned. Jeff then brings up the idea of making a move, because someone in the big alliance of seven is on the bottom. Jason says that they have to stay strong and then the seven of them can just battle it out. Scot agrees that the seven are closely aligned. There is talks of hidden immunity idols, and Tai candidly talks about the super-idol that becomes more powerful when two idols are merged together. There is a big reaction from people who did not know about the super-idol, while Jason and Scot look annoyed with Tai for revealing this information. Debbie reasserts that someone in the alliance of seven is in the bottom, and a move should be made. Jeff asks if tonight’s vote will be a blindside, but Jason and Scot are convinced it won’t be.
It’s time for the vote. We see a vote for Aubry, Debbie, and Nick. But who will be voted out tonight?
