Sunday Ratings: Idol Numbers Reflect Late Start

Ratings are in from TV By The Numbers:

Post game coverage ran nearly until 11pm ET so the special telecast of American Idol didn’t begin until 10:57p on the east coast but still scored a 7.9 adults 18-49 rating and 19.8 million viewers in time zone adjusted numbers from Fox.

I can’t imagine these are the big numbers FOX Executives were hoping for when they scheduled this special edition.

In fact @maskedscheduler, the anonymous FOX executive who posts all sorts of tasty tidbits on twitter revealed today, “Given the late start and the DVR issues for #AMERICANIDOL last night there is a real possibility that #FOX will repeat it. Stay tuned.”

Anybody who DVRd the show and didn’t factor in at least an hour extra time, was SOL.
