It’s Day 2 in Vegas, there are 77 dancers are left. The judges panel, Tyce Diorio, Adam Shankman, Mia Michaels, Mary Murphy, Debbie Allen and Nigel Lythgoe take their seats.
There’s lots of crying in tonight’s episode. And more injuries. By the end of the episode, the dancing is through. Next Wednesday, the judges choose the Top 20.
The first round is Jazz, choreographed by Laurie Ann Gibson, and she is a terror, screaming and barking out orders to the dancers. Yikes.
Karen and Matthew, ballroom dancers from Boston, do not survive the round intact. Karen makes it to the next round, her husband does not. – VIDEO
Nigel is a bitch too. He chews out the dancers. The jazz round is not going well. Iveta, the champion ballroom dancer, and Willem, from the same sex couple, are cut after the Jazz round.
Nigel tells Mollee, a young dancer from LA (by way of Utah) that she dances like a little girl, but she makes it the next round anyway. Uh oh, she hurts her foot and is taken to the hospital. – VIDEO
Talented krumper, Russell Ferguson, swears he’s had no formal training. Adam is skeptical. So am I.
Day 3 begins with the Group Round. The dancers, split up into groups, pick dance styles out of a hat, and then choreograph their own routines.
Russell and his group dance a Broadway number that pleases the judges. – VIDEO
Mollee shows up 2 hours into the rehearsal for her group. She’s back from the hospital, still hurt, but dancing anyway. They work the routine around her injury. The judges aren’t impressed with the routine, but the entire group makes it to the next round. – VIDEO
Next, is contemporary with Mia Michaels. All the dancers are skeerd of her.
Kevin, a street dancer from Boston survives the contemporary round – VIDEO
Legacy, a street dancer (the judges chewed him out last week) is moved to tears after he finishes Mia’s routine. You “exposed yourself in a beautiful way, ” she says. Everybody is crying. – VIDEO
Next up is Broadway from Tyce Diorio.
He splits the group up into boys and girls.
Paula, a dancer who nearly made it to the Top 20 Season 5, hurts her foot. Will she make it to the next round? We’ll have to wait til next week to find out. – VIDEO
Ashley and Ryan, a husband and wife team from Salt Lake City, are hoping to advance to the next round together. The judges have been critical of Ashley, but they love her Broadway, she makes it through – VIDEO
Her husband, Ryan, takes his shirt off to expose some major abs. It was probably unnecessary, the judges love him anyway. – VIDEO.
Dominick, a dancer who doesn’t make it to the next round, loses his sh*t. Nigel is annoyed. – VIDEO.
The last round–the dancer take the stage solo.
