Season 7 Roundup – David Cook, Michael Johns, and David Archuleta

A few tidbits came up over the weekend y’all might be interested in. I thought I’d round them up in one post. Play nice kids!

David Cook – SNL Performance, Video Debut

David Cook and his band had their big debut on Saturday Night Live this weekend, and despite a few nerves, they kicked some serious SNL arse! They performed the single “Light On” and the opening track, “Declaration” from the upcoming album, David Cook (out 11/18).

While “Light On” was a solid performance, the band really came to life on “Declaration”, an arena-ready melodic rocker that’s just the kind of song I expect from David keeping his influences (Our Lady Peace, Foo Fighters) and pre-Idol music in mind. This ain’t no butt rock y’all, (or fly-over rock, the newest condescending trendy term for the likes of Hinder, Daughtry and Nickleback.)

Look for Cook’s video for “Light On” to debut on his official website first thing tomorrow morning…

David Archuleta, 30-second TV spot, “Crush” success

Watch the 30-second TV spot for David’s upcoming album, David Archuleta (due to drop 11/11), after the jump. The single “Crush” is #1, 4 weeks running on VH1 Top 20 countdown and is also #1 on the Disney Top 30 countdown. It currently sits at #15 on the iTunes overall songs chart. That single has some legs!

Bonus: David Archuleta and bud Jason Castro took in a Jason Mraz concert Saturday night in Los Angeles.
