Welp. Scott Borchetta heard that coach Adam Levine blamed Universal Music Group for the failure of The Voice to launch stars, and his reaction on twitter was pretty hilarious.
The Big Machine Records head let loose with a series of good natured tweets, sticking up for the work he and his label have done on behalf of The Voice alums, Cassadee Pope, Danielle Bradbery and RaeLynn. The women have had a measure success in country music, under his watch, post The Voice, and Scott’s not going to let Adam forget it.
In an interview with Howard Stern on his Sirius radio show on Tuesday, Adam pointed a finger at the record labels responsible for The Voice alums careers once they leave the show, for not working hard enough or smart enough. Scott’s Big Machine Records is distributed through Universal and has the first right of refusal on the country winners. And, as most of you know, Scott is currently the American Idol in-house mentor. Big Machine Records releases the music from the show.
“I’ll be relatively cryptic about what I think the big problem is,” Adam said to Howard. “When the baton is passed post-Voice, there’s some problems. People take over after we do this great job of building these people up on the show. There’s some real issues there.”
“The rollout of all that is still such a mess,” Adam complained. “And by the way, just to clarify, this has nothing to do with what happens on NBC or with the people. In that time, we do so much great s— for these singers, and then they go to a record label that I won’t mention. But they go to a record label that f—s it up.”
“…And I’m glad I’m saying this on air so maybe the label will get angry and f— off, so we can get somebody else to do it,” Adam said.
Oh REALLY? Scott’s letting ya’ll know, that Big Machine records? NOT F*CKING IT UP.

I appreciate that Scott didn’t react angrily. He just stated a few facts, and then proceeded to mock the hell out of Adam. Good stuff.
