Sanjaya Malakar – I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here – VIDEO

I’m not a big fan of reality TV shows generally, but I thought I’d check in to see how season 6 Idol Sanjaya Malakar was doing on NBC’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

Unfortunately, I forgot to set my DVR, and didn’t start watching until about 40 minutes in. But it was soon enough to catch Heidi and Spencer Pratt–you know, those tools from The Hills–pitching fake fits out in the jungle.

When I tuned in, Speidi, were just getting back to camp after quitting. They were expecting 5 star hotels out in the jungle, and fellow celebrities who were at least as famous as they thought they were in their delusional little minds. Spencer goes ballistic after discovering that one of the “celebrities” peeled the label off Heidi’s dry shampoo–a desecration so unbearable to Heidi, it had her bawling in one of her camera confessionals.

They really know how to stir up the fake drama those two.

Meanwhile, TMZ is reporting that Heidi and Spencer quit the show for good after last night’s live challenge.

Sanjaya–he’s like a little jungle rat. Not only is under the radar, but nothing seems to faze him, including drinking a cow intestine milkshake (“I had to drink my mother’s protein shakes, I can drink this, ” he declares) and eating Iguana’s tail. He won both challenges.

After the jump, Heidi and Spencer brat out, plus the “celebrities” eat bugs and stuff.

  1. I think Sanjaya’s strategy is to lay low. It’s clear none of them think he’s a threat. But it’s clear to me he’s like a live action version of Mowgli from “The Jungle Book”.

  2. I can’t believe it myself, but I gained a bit of respect for Sanjaya after the first episode. He didn’t just eat that iguana tail – he swallowed it whole. He didn’t just drink that milkshake, he licked the table when the girls griped that he spilled some of it. And he was one of only 2 who went into that tank in the end without any head covering – with cockroaches and tarantulas crawling around. John Salley bailed early, and he was bundled up with a hood.

Sanjaya was pretty darn impressive last night. Lets see if it will hold out though.

Speidi – my first viewing of them. I never watched the Hills, though I heard about them of course. Yeah, they are idiots.

  3. I’m not a fan of Sanjaya as a singer, but hey, he’s good at this! Very impressive.

  4. Anyone else notice the creative editing? When Heidi says she’s never had anything this disgusting in her mouth, they quickly flash to Spencer. Uh huh. Or is that just my dirty mind at work?

I like Sanjays before, but only because I thought he is a cute little boy who has a sunny smile.

but after last night, I actully liked him more for his fireceness. I liked how he licked the table~!LOL, and how he swallowed it whole like a bird~~

I still dont like his hair though, always feels like it is something made out of control by AI hair stylist. (just because they want something different each week, and Sanjaya is too sweet to say no)

  6. Under Sanjaya’s name is said “Pop Star.” Doesn’t someone have to record some pop and sell it to a bunch of people to be called that?

  7. Sanjaya released an EP called “Dancing To The Music In My Head” back in January. And I think being on American Idol and doing at least 1 tour is enough to be called a “pop star”.

  8. One thing that pisses me off more than anything are people who are famous for absolutely NO REASON: See, Speidi.

I find Spencer Pratt of the biggest bastard I’ve ever happened to catch a glimpse of. What I find even more annoying is the fact that they are absolutely everywhere for absolutely NO REASON and want fame so badly it’s sicking.

    Anything to get people talking.

    Like this.

    However, GO SANJAYA!

  9. I watched the first 15 minutes of the show last night & got bored. I kinda wish I saw this sanjaya stuff though. Vids don’t work for me.

    Love “Sanjaya FTMFW!”

  10. This is the guy who attempted to “sing” in Spanish and rock crazy hairstyles on Idol…he is fierce LOL

Hope he wins. I like his casual no fear, no sweat approach

If I had one wish….just one simple wish…it would be to eradicate the world of Heidi and Spencer.

  11. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m not a big fan of reality TV shows generally,

American Idol – I Love This Cheesy Show

    Ok, MJ, I’m confused.

  12. Hate Sanjaya’s hair and I’ve always hated his voice, but he did a good job on the show last night.

  13. This show is just filled with human debris. What a bunch of z-listers. If I were trapped in the jungle with those Pratt famewhores, I might actually murder them. For sure a stint on this show would lead to a jail term for me.

  14. I must say that I really think Sanjaya gets the joke and that he is really good at playing along. He is a nice looking man (eyebrows and hair must be an Indian thing…think Anoop), is really reasonably intelligent. He has found his little niche and has enough self-esteem not to worry about being the brunt of many a joke. He’s probably laughing all the way to the bank where he is setting up a nice little nest egg for the future.

  15. Ok, MJ, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m confused.

The key word is “generally”. I hate reality shows, except for the handful that I really love, like American Idol and So you Think you can dance.

I like the Reality shows where there is really something at stake–like a a young person’s career in music or dance.

Z list celebrities grasping for that last bit of fame? Not into that so much.

  16. Hedi and Spencer are already out of their, they quit

Yes. I actually mention that in my post, with a link to TMZ.

  17. I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t believe it myself, but I gained a bit of respect for Sanjaya after the first episode. He didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t just eat that iguana tail – he swallowed it whole. Speidi – my first viewing of them. I never watched the Hills, though I heard about them of course. Yeah, they are idiots.

My sister was married to a Costa Rican and remarried one. The area may very well be familiar to her, as she has visited the rain forest. She was told about some of the roaches that they were actually beneficial, because they would eat the other ones. So she had to get familiar with the more “useful” ones, lol. I Agree on everything you said.I wanted to give Heidi and Spencer the benefit of the doubt, but I did not like their behavior. I am rooting for Sanjaya and Stephen Baldwin, :-). I think he is cool. And hope to see Frangela hang in there, too. They crack me up, lol.

  18. You lasted longer than I, MJ. I tuned in about the same time but couldn’t watch more than 15 minutes. I don’t think Sanjaya even spoke the whole time I watched. Poor Lou Diamond Phillips. How did he wind up on this crapfest? He’s a semi regular on Numbers. I hope he doesn’t need cash this badly! Does the prize (if there is one) go to charity?

  19. I’m not surprised Sanjaya has a stoic side to him.

And BTW, he did a fine job with “Besame Mucho” before he got cut on Idol. His Spanish was just fine, without any stumbling whatsoever, and I don’t doubt that it’s part of his global multi-culti identity. Don’t forget, he can hula dance too.

  20. I think if you can live through what Sanjaya did on (and off) AI, the rest is cake.

  21. Ugh, Speidi. So annoying. And I’m really happy that reality shows like this one don’t exist in my country. .

  22. Poor Lou Diamond Phillips. How did he wind up on this crapfest? Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a semi regular on Numbers. I hope he doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t need cash this badly! Does the prize (if there is one) go to charity?

That’s what I was thinking. He’s an actor with some real chops. It’s sad to see him slumming like this…

  23. Thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s what I was thinking. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s an actor with some real chops. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s sad to see him slumming like thisà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦

Hell yeah. What’s with that? He still gets parts, so I cannot understand him agreeing to do this crap.

  24. I love Sanjaya. Always have and I never doubted that he would do just fine after idol.

I dont think I will ever forget his rendition of The Kinks “You Really Got Me”.

Holy shit that was effing awesome. I laughed till I cried and I even thought he did fab with it.

  25. Each celeb is competing for a charity, though I think each celeb also gets some personal funds as well. Reason why Patty Blago is on the show. I missed the first 15 minutes (apparently the boring stuff), so I don’t know the charities of each celeb though I would guess it will come out again.

One of Spencer’s other “gems” was about his charity. When he and Heidi were threatening to quit for the first time, Lou told them they were fighting for charity they owed their charity to try at least one night. Spencer said something along the lines of they chose one of the bigger charities because they won’t need the money as much.

I think even Spencer realized he went too far with that one.

  26. Lou Diamond Phillips is going to appear for 7 episodes of Stargate Universe on the scifi channel this fall. IDK if he gets killed off or not…

  27. You know, I think LDP may have actually done it for the experience and cache. He likes to fancy himself an adventurer and a badass, though many question his actual credentials. Going on this show could give him a chance to prove he can do this survival crap. Either that, or he owes money to the IRS.

Glad to hear Sanjaya hasn’t become an entitled famewhore. Go Sanjaya!

I’m not sure I really want to even sit through the clips, but I’ll follow this on the threads if you can keep up with it, mj. Good luck! ;-)

  28. Ugh, a show with Sanjaya and Speidi, couldnt stand Sanjaya on the show and I am sure he is just as dum on here and with the Hills people. Shows how low people will go to put on another dum reality show! Didnt have the “pleasure” of watching.

Actually Sanjaya didn’t come off at all as dumb…or dum as you spell it even. I was rather impressed with his doing what he had to do and not making a scene at all. That it’s being done for charity impresses me even more…maybe not enough to watch the show, but enough to think Sanjaya isn’t a horrible person.

  30. I suspect NBC had whatever is going on with Pratt and Montag planned from the get-go. If they don’t re-appear later in the season,I’ll re-evaluate that thought. For all of his mocking of Torrie Wilson, Pratt seems like the stereotypical pro wrestling heel. Maybe he should give the WWE a call.

  31. Missed it last night, but meant to catch it…thanks for links, MJ. Heh, Sanjaya was amazing swallowing that iguana tail!

  32. I thought it was funny that tripe (cow intestines) was considered the same on the icky level with tarantulas and rat tail.

In the culture I grew up in, tripe is considered a delicacy. I know people who love it. You cook it first, though.

  33. I am SO embarrassed to say I actually watched this ……….. but I did. I wanted to see Sanjaya and he was wonderful. Just a great little competitor and so at home in that jungle. Yay, Sanje!

Thank Jeebus Speidi will be gone! Gawd. Dumb and Dumber. Agree, MJ. Total tools. In what alternate universe do those two actually dwell to think they are “superstars”? Eff ’em!

Oh. It’s on again. I am not…..ok, I am ….. watching it again!

  34. Did you know that the female presenter there, Myleene Klass, was chosen to be in the winning group by Nigel Lythgoe in the first British Popstars program? Nigel, of course, went on to form Pop Idol the next year with the 2 Simons, then American Idol the year after that. So there is a connection between her and Sanjaya. I remember her also being a contestant in the UK version of this show and is now quite a big name in the UK.

  35. I thought it was funny that tripe (cow intestines) was considered the same on the icky level with tarantulas and rat tail.

In the culture I grew up in, tripe is considered a delicacy. I know people who love it. You cook it first, though.

The human consumption tripe is so bleached and sterilized- not at all like the raw green tripe I feed my dogs that still has grass and all manner of goo attached.
Seeing someone eat that would really be something.

  36. “”That ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s being done for charity impresses me even moreà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦maybe not enough to watch the show, but enough to think Sanjaya isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t a horrible person.””

Well, if that is true but I doubt it, he is still dum, dumb and dumber no matter where they put him, if you enjoy that thing thats great, I just dont

  37. Why did they even bring this show back? It’s terrible.
That’s the first time i’ve seen “Speidi”, i’ve read snippets about them here and there but never really paid them any attention, are they for real? What babies.

  38. In the culture I grew up in, tripe is considered a delicacy. I know people who love it. You cook it first, though.

Mine too MJ. My mom use to fry it and we’d have it with spanish rice and okra, or some such. My kids are happy I didn’t carry on that tradition, but I must admit it was good.

Dingo, we share many loves…….Taylor, Sanjaya, and Adam, lol. Beseme Mucho was lovely…..

I like Sanjaya because I think he is a musical soul,

  39. My pc jumped the gun about Sanjaya. I think he didn’t have the best voice for sure, but he certainly was an interesting kid and made interesting choices. As for this show, good for him.

If you listen to him when he speaks he is actually a very intelligent young man, not dum(b) at all. Very insightful…..
