Numbers Thread – 07/17/18

Today’s thread is brought to you by the letters “R”, “A”, “P”.

Drake replaces himself at the top of the Hot 100 to earn his 6th number one song. He created his own viral challenge for “In My Feelings”. Drake is just playing with the charts now. Drake becomes only the 4th artist to twice replace himself at the top to the chart (Bieber, Usher and The Beatles also achieved the accomplishment).

Drake also spends a second week at the top of the BB200 – the biggest second week in two years (335K equivalent albums, 29K in sales. Hmmm). Much like the Hot 100, the BB200 is dominated by Rap artists. Drake, Post Malone, Future, XXXTentacion, Cardi B, Juice WRLD. One must go to number 7 for the first non rap – “The Greatest Showman” (featuring Loren Allred from The Voice) has 30K in equivalent album sales. Followed by more rap – The Carters (though, only half rap), Meek Mill and Lil Baby. Streaming is where it is at and rap fans love to stream.

  2. From last night’s Billboard Country Update:

    #Billboard Country Airplay 7/16/18
#13 Carrie Underwood Cry Pretty (LW #10)
#38 Trent Harmon “You Got ‘Em All” (lw #38)
#47 Scotty McCreery “This Is It” (lw #50)

    – Chase Rice’s “Three Chords & the Truth” has gone recurrent. It peaked at #25 on Billboard
    – Trent Harmon’s “You Got ‘Em All” has had 2 consecutive negative weeks & is in danger of going recurrent next week unless the single rebullets.

  3. Love Lies has gone top 30 with being #25 this week. Does anyone think it can go top 20?

  4. Did Carrie’s song fall out of the top 10 on airplay?! What is going on?

  5. Yes. Certain male A-listers will move quickly up the charts & pass everyone including Carrie. Thomas Rhett, FGL , & Jason Aldean ft. Miranda all have new singles that passed Carrie’s.

  6. I’m sure it will rebound but man- the most powerful female in Country Music can’t hold her own against the male stars… sad day… I hope Capitol has the muscle to push it to #1.

  7. *This is Why Don’t We’s 6th song to enter into the Bubbling Under!
Daniel Seavey is now tied in the 13th spot with number of songs making it on the Hot 100 / Bubbling Under charts! He just passed up Josh Gracin and Scotty McCreery.

  8. Scotty only has 6 songs to make the Hot 100/Bubbling Under? That seems low

  9. yeah but what about all the songs he did on Idol? Those still count if they make the Hot 100 or Bubbling Under charts. I know both David Cook and Kris Allen had several of their Idol performances hit the Hot 100. Didn’t Scotty?

  10. S10 of Idol only had Scotty & Lauren’s coronation singles make the Billboard Hot 100. Those were the only contestants & songs in that season that made the BB Hot 100 or the Bubbling Under charts.

  11. BB 200 / Top Albums:
    #15 / #6 – Taylor Swift – Reputation (35 weeks) : +15
    #31 / #35 – Kane Brown (84 weeks) : +1
    #40 / NA – Camila Cabello (26 weeks) : +6 = HALF A YEAR
    #87 / NA – Taylor Swift – 1989 (187 weeks) : +9
    #144 – Morgan Wallen (11 weeks) : -9
    #181 – Carrie Underwood – Greatest Hits (133 weeks) : same

    Hot 100 / Bubbling Under:
    #15 – Delicate – Taylor Swift (18 weeks) : +8
    #25 – Love Lies – Normani (21 weeks) : +21
    #26 – Never Be The Same – Camila Cabello (30 weeks) : +9
    #54 – Up Down – Morgan Wallen (16 weeks) : +8
#70 – Take Back Home Girl – Chris Lane ft. Tori Kelly (6 weeks) : +9
    #91 – Cry Pretty – Carrie Underwood (5 weeks) : -4
    #118 – Talk – Why Don’t We (1 week) : DEBUT

    *Favorite New Entry*
    Jumpsuit – twenty one pilots = #60

    Christian Songs:
    #21 – Good News – Mandisa (6 weeks) : +3
    #32 – Pioneers – Moriah Peters (2 weeks) : -5
    #33 – You Say – Lauren Daigle (1 week) : DEBUT

    Christian Airplay:
    #16 – Good News – Mandisa (10 weeks) : -1
    #22 – You Say – Lauren Daigle (1 week) : DEBUT
    #34 – If You Ain’t In It – Danny Gokey (4 weeks) : +2
    #48 – No Other Love – Jasmine Murray (19 weeks) : -2

  12. He’s only released 8 singles total including the coronation single. 5/8 singles reaching the Hot 100 IMO is pretty good considering he’s a country artist which doesn’t chart as well on this chart & 2 of the singles didn’t chart well (Southern Belle & Water Tower Town) even on the country charts.
