Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Oct 21-28

Five milestones this week. Three from Idols. Two from the Voice.

As windmills noted last week, there were a number of songs going recurrent on Country Mediabase this week. This gave a power-surge to many country songs on a chart which can sometimes be a tad slow. That and spincreases moved back-to-back Voice winners into the top 20 and 30 respectively. Cassadee Pope is the winner of Season 3 and her “Wasting All These Tears” moved into the top 20 of the format. Danielle Bradbery won the very next season and her “The Heart of Dixie” achieved top 30. Cassadee recently released an album and Danielle’s will be arriving on store shelves Nov 25.

Also releasing an album that week is Idol’s Daughtry. Daughtry is set to release their fourth studio album and “Waiting for Superman” is the debut single. The song achived top 40 on AC this week. It is formating on two charts (top 20 on HAC).

Over on UAC, Jennifer Hudson is scaling the chart. “I Can’t Describe” is the debut from her upcoming third studio album. It arrived on the chart last week and this week it is top 30.

Finally, Mandisa just keeps racking up the weeks at number one. Her “Overcomer” (title track and debut single from her fourth studio album) is spending it’s sixth week at the top of the CAC chart. I expect she’ll be there next week too.
