Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Nov 14-20

Just like last week, there are three milestones this week. This time, the milestones are from 2nd, 4th and 7th place finishers.

First up is Daughtry which is celebrating their debut week by getting their debut single from their third album into the top 10 on HAC. “Crawling Back To You” is currently charting on three different formats (HAC, AC and Pop).

Jennifer Hudson, from Season 3, has achieved top 30 with her latest single on Urban radio. “I Got This” is the 3rd or 4th single from her second album. Her previous single “No One Gonna Love You” went recurrent on UAC this week.

Finally, Season 5 runner-up Katharine McPhee’s version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” has returned to the AC chart (it left shortly after Christmas last year). It may have a short run this time, because IIRC, Christmas songs only have a year on the chart before they are declared recurrent. The song reached top 40 in the format on Nov 29th, so it is possible it will go recurrent in a couple of weeks.

But never fear, if that does happen, there will still be lots of Christmas songs charting on AC. Right now, there are only 14 songs on that chart with a bullet and 10 of those are Christmas songs (mostly from Buble and Bieber – what can I say…blame Canada…). The Christmas freeze is starting to occur.
