Monday Morning Mediabase Update – Dec 13-19

Christmas songs continue to dominate the Idol milestone charts. There is a fair amount of change-over in the Christmas song market as one song becomes popular for a week and then begins to drop and then comes roaring back the next week. This week, Katharine McPhee’s “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” slides forward into the top 30 on AC. Over on CAC, Mandisa’s “Little Drummer Boy” reaches the top 50.

If we were to look at the recurrent charts, the presence of Idols would be felt even more strongly. On AC, Daughtry’s “September” (8) has David Archuleta’s “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” (10) right above it and Kimberley Locke’s “Frosty The Snowman” (12) right below it (Daughtry’s song shifts down to 11 with recurrents included). Carrie Underwood’s “Hark the Herald Angels Sing!” would also appear. Of course, when looking at the recurrent charts we see lots of old friends.
