Monday Morning Mediabase 06/12/2017

Eight milestones for this Monday Morning Mediabase report.

Say what you will about the X-Factor franchise, but it knows how to produce hitmakers and support its acts.

Camilo Cabello starts off our milestone report. She hits two milestones with her debut single “Crying in the Club”. This former Fifth Harmony member from the US franchise of XF moved into the top 40 on HAC and Rhythmic this week. The song is 22nd on the Pop charts.

Speaking of Fifth Harmony, their lead-off single from their next album is up. “Down” debuted on the Pop chart in the top 40. It is going for adds on Rhythmic this week. The song was second on the Pop Taking Off Chart.

James Arthur represents the UK franchise of XF. His “Say You Won’t Go” is living up to its name as it has been on the charts for a long time. The song is sitting at least top 6 on all three Mainstream formats. This week, it went top 5 on Pop. Previously, it topped the HAC chart.

Liam Payne is also from UK XF and is a member of 1D (on hiatus so they tell us). Liam’s debut single is called “Strip that Down” and he recently started performing it live (with dancers! A rarity for 1D).The song went top 40 on HAC this week and top 30 on Rhythmic. Fellow 1Der Niall Horan returned to the top 10 on AC with his “This Town”.

But its not all about XF this week. Idol’s Carrie Underwood’s duet with Keith Urban, “The Fighter”, has gone top 10 on Country this week. This song is also on the HAC chart.

Finally, we have Lindsey Stirling from AGT. Her “Love’s Just a Feeling” has moved into the top 30 on AC. She does well on her own label and in her non-typical niche.

Hasley earns her first number one on the BB200 with “Hopeless Fountain Kingdom”. Lauren Jauregui from Fifth Harmony is featured on a track from that album. Halsey becomes the first woman to top the BB200 in 2017 (Lady Gaga was the last previous woman to top the BB200 back on November 12, 2016). In the last 12 months, only 4 woman have topped this pivotal chart (the other two were Solange and Barbara Streisand). Of course, it doesn’t help that streaming propels many albums into being hanging on to number one for multiple weeks. Sixteen men have topped the chart (Drake and Future have each done it with two different albums – these two guys have as many albums top the chart as all the woman combined in the past year), 10 groups (only Pentatonix had a female member), two Soundtracks and one compilation. Katy Perry should top the chart next week.
