Hey Madonna! Toni Basil called. She wants her second-rate song back. What the hell? I have no idea what Madonna is trying to accomplish here. Is “Give Me All Your Lovin” a football themed song released especially for her Superbowl half time appearance this weekend? Because this piece of retro-80s fluff is by no means radio-ready.
If it’s promotion for her Superbowl appearance…well then. It still sucks. In the video, Madonna prances around in a skimpy outfit (gotta say…she looks DAMN good at 53) with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A as rapping cheerleaders. M.I.A looks particularly out of place. I kept waiting for her to pull out a machine gun and start f*cking sh*t up. That would have ruled.
What the hell with Madonna holding a baby doll up to her breast? Look at her! She can still shock after nearly 30 years. Erm. It’s not even that I hate Madonna. I kind of like her. But that video? Uhm. NO. If that was supposed to be ironic…or something–I didn’t get it. (eta: I see the visual nods to her past, but this video is such a muddled mess, whatever she’s trying to say here isn’t very clear)
A few seconds of the video premiered on American Idol last night, which hardly seemed worth the promo. We’ll see if Madonna can impress during her 12 minute half-time set. I hope she’s practicing her lip-syncing.
