  1. He called us fun and sexy! *swoon* And he reads our comments! Actually, that part kinda scares me. :)

Thanks Slezak, and thanks MJ for setting that up. So much fun.

  2. Thanks, MJ! That was a lot of fun. And thanks to Michael for taking the time. I always enjoy getting his POV on the goings-on at AI.

  3. Thanks MJ for bringing us such a great chat. Slezak is awesome. You guys asked some really great questions!

  4. Thanks Michael and MJ for a super chat….Thanks MJ for using one of my questions and thanks to all the posters…. you guys asked some really good, non boring, different and interesting questions. Really enjoyed myself

  5. As others have said, thanks MJ — that was fun. I really enjoy Slezak’s writing. He is a great wit. And I enjoyed hearing his perspective on things. It was nice of him to drop by.

    Great questions everyone!

I was happy to see a question about the Adam-Allison tour. Although glambertglitter’s actual question was used, I submitted a very similar question about that.

    Hahaha Agreed!

  6. thanks to mj and Micheal!! that was fun!!

“send the save on a boat with Randy, Kara, Ellen” … i’m still laughing ..

  7. dhunken I almost passed out when I saw your question. I didn’t think he was going to answer that. LOL. Notice he dodged the “dull” part. :)

  8. Lots of FANTASTIC questions. Wish we could do this with the contestants after they’re booted instead of hearing/reading tons of interviews with the same generic questions.

Michael was witty and insightful as always, he’s definitely my favorite idol writer.

    that’s a cool idea!!

  10. When I hit the replay button, all I can see is the gray backround – is there something else I need to do?

  11. “send the save on a boat with Randy, Kara, Ellen” … i’m still laughing ..

I asked that question because I didn’t remember him giving his thoughts one way or the other, and I honestly didn’t expect that kind of answer. He had me in hysterics for quite a while with that one. Hee!

I left just before the Q&A rapped up but I’ve just seen the other questions that were submitted. All of the questions were really good.

    Thanks for hosting mj! :)

I know :-) I thought his answer of Brooke White to the questions which contestant he had the biggest change of heart, Good or Bad, after meeting them in person, was an interesting one.

  13. I had to read after the fact. Phooey for me. :-( But, Slezak was excellent as always, and MJ’s commenters were their usual fantastical selves. :-)

Sorry I missed it, damn real life! Thanks MJ and Michael~

  14. I liked his views of several issues, such as the supposed relevance of VFTW and why VFTW likes Siobhan – because she’ll be around anyway, making them look good. Hadn’t thought about it that way. And why Crystal is being “pimped” – because who else is there? If Crystal had shown up previously, in 6 or 7 or 8, who knows what would have happened. Crystal vs Adam? Crystal vs. the Davids? Crystal vs. Jordan? (I’m thinking Crystal wins that one). The problem, as MS points out, is lack of any other viable or worthy options.

  15. As Michael said Aaron may be in luck this week, it being a country theme, perhaps the viewers will continue a pattern and vote out a genre singer during his/her best genre (ie Matt during Rat Pack/standards, Allison [sniff] during Rock week)… perhaps Aaron fans will be complacent and perfectly satisfied with this being his last run. *crosses fingers*

I live in the same town as Aaron’s grandmother and they have a pretty big army and buzz going around. It’s getting kinda annoying.

  16. But yes, fun questions and insightful answers! Great job guys!! I look forward to Slezak’s recaps and Idolatry vids.. which reminds me I’m behind on the last two wks. I think the funniest of this season has to be with Jermaine Sellers and God coming on with the text, heehee. Oh, and don’t make Glassblower cry.

  17. I have also been thinking that the contestants should cowrite a song while on AI. It would really show how they’re relevant. I have been thinking that they should get ot cowrite the coronation song, so we won’t have a situation that the song doesn’t fit the winner. I think they should at least have the top 4 or so do this. They did this on Rockstar and it really showed what the contestants were capable of.

If Crystal had shown up previously, in 6 or 7 or 8, who knows what would have happened. Crystal vs Adam? Crystal vs. the Davids? Crystal vs. Jordan? (I’m thinking Crystal wins that one).

I think she would have been in the top 10 just about every year, but I’m not sure how how high she would have finished. I also think she would have had her best chance was in Season 6, because there was no one like her on that season, and we would not have seen Season 7 yet. I think she might have done ok on Season 7, but would not have won against David Cook, thought I could see her going as high as 3 or 4, probably season 8 the same. It’s just that even though she is good, I’m not seeing the originality and versitility that there was the past couple of years with David Cook, Adam, and Kris. Actually no one that season really has it to that level.

I agree with MS that there were other contestants that were eliminated early. Like Angela Martin, and others. I would have liked to have heard Michael Castro. And there were contestants we never even heard.

I think that the producers did not want anyone too far ahead, sort of a more even playing field, so that there wouldn’t be an early frontrunner. In a way this could be interesting to see but I think that there is the same expectation that we have had the past few years for the level of performance and star quality which we aren’t getting this year.

  18. I missed it so thanks for the transcript, Mj. I don’t always agree with Michael but always enjoy reading his articles. I do agree that it would be good to have a new panel of judges next season but doubt that will happen.
