LA Dream Center Named For Danny Gokey’s Wife Sophia

This must have meant a lot to Danny Gokey. An LA based outreach organization for the homeless named one of their youth-oriented   programs after Danny’s late wife Sophia:

In celebration of the 15th Anniversary of the L.A. Dream Center, an outreach to the homeless and needy in L.A. & across the U.S., American Idol’s Danny Gokey recently performed at a special media event hosted by Jason Kennedy of “E! News Daily, ” Suzanne Marques of “Good Day L.A.”

At the event, Gokey, along with Dream Center founder, Matthew Barnett, announced that the Dream Center’s Youth Outreach Center will be named after Gokey’s late wife, Sophia. The announcement recognizes Gokey’s commitment to the work of the inner-city relief organization through his recently formed foundation, Sophia’s Heart, created in his wife’s memory.

The Dream Center also has its own recording studio and record label,   recently launching their first artist Press Play. The band’s debut album, Life Is Beautiful, debuted in the Top 50 on the Billboard 200 and became a huge itunes success. The band members all work for the Dream Center. Proceeds from the sale of their CD go to the development of the Dream Center.
