  1. Thanks for this new thread, mj!

I swear, the band is sounding awesome, now that they’ve had a couple months together–just imagine how good they’re going to be on tour!

IIO just keeps getting better and better; and I’m appreciating The Truth more now–I like the live version a lot!

  2. MJ – thanks for adding the thread!

I’m a little sad that the almost daily stream of Kris appearances and videos is coming to an end, at least til his tour starts. But I’ve favorited a lot of YouTube videos to get me through. We’ve still got AOL Sessions (Red Guitar!), Christmas parade, and NYE, but it’s gonna be a long quiet month of January for Kris fans. Hopefully there will be some PR appearances to keep pushing LLWD and the album.

  3. (I bring my comment from the other thread)

‘The Truth’ from yesterday is AMAZING and I like the change he made at 3:56. It’s such a concert song. I mean, it pushes his voice a lot but he handles it really well. There is also a slight change in AWM at 1:05. I really enjoy all the live versions of the songs. Andrew kill it during the guitar solos and the trio at the end of IIO is so fun to watch.

For those who are not sick of Heartless yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXsctFZrq6I&feature=player_embedded I’m surprised that I am not. The beginning is really good but then there is a guest vocalist, who relly enjoys the song and that’s great but’ ¦’ ¦..it’s OK.

    CSA (with guitar): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCXpRt9_4lw&feature=channel
If I haven’t seen him performing it without the guitar I wouldn’t mind but we have already seen all these amazing performances where he owns the stage during that song, so I will say this: KRIS STAY AWAY FROM THE GUITAR WHILE SINGING CSA. So that was one fundamental rule that was broken. Another one was that two members of the band wore plaid yesterday, Andrew and Cale. I wish I could find sth funny or snarky to say about it but I can’t so that’s just an observation.

Thanks mj for putting all the jingle ball threads together. Yes, unfortunately that was the last concert, but we get the AOL sessions on Tuesday. I’ m with you kt_cle, I can’t wait for RG. It sounds awesome in this video.

  4. Awesome. I agree, they are sounding great together. Thank you! :-)

  5. *bowing to Kris* .. gee that this kid is good!!!
IIO fits nicely in the House of blues, isn’t it?

very good performances. Agree with you mmk28; usually I skip Heartless but I liked it very much again.
I like all the videos posted. Thanks mj
Got to listen to CSA now

  6. Thanks for starting the new thread, MJ!

It’s a little weird that all these JingleBall appearances are ending just as the band is starting to really come together live. I loved the bit at the end of IIO where Andrew, Kris and Cale all come forward to the edge of the stage in a 3-guitar mini-jam. Andrew is really start to loosen up a bit on stage and he is a really good guitarist.

From the reports of people who were there, Kris got another great crowd response last night. And people are singing along now to more than just LLWD and Heartless, so that seems like they are really getting into some of his other stuff from the album.

It’s going be weirdly quiet between now and the start of the solo tours. Not only is Kris done with these concerts, but Adam and Allison don’t have a lot going on either — Adam’s got Leno on Monday, Kris has the AOL sessions being released and the taped Xas parade, and all 3 have NYE appearances. But that’s it utnil February — at least as far as has been announced. Hopefully all 3 of them will be doing stuff in January to try and build momentum for the Kradison concert and their solo tours.

  7. Yes, I’m really sad these Jingle Balls are now over. :( The band was great at the beginning, but they have only gotten better as they continued on.

I’m looking forward to seeing what they are going to be doing for tour. I’d imagine the smaller venue deal. However, I believe opening for an established artist would be great too!

  8. i love hearing the crowd sing along in every one of these videos, it gives me chills! :] great performances.

  9. Sads that this is the end of the Jingle Balls. But I’m looking forward to AOL Sessions, the Disney Parade (ok, not so much that), and Billboard’s NYE. But I’m glad that Kris will have a much needed break to spend time with Katy and his family and just chill.

I absolutely love ‘Is It Over’ and it’s so dynamic when Kris and The Band perform it. These guys have really become a fantastic band. I was just thinking today that I can’t wait for album #2 with them on it.

I’ve never been a huge fan of that song…until I watched the FL performance…the little yell? Gotta love it. It’s so fun to watch Kris progress…he just keeps getting better!

Yes, I agree, no guitar in the future. I just think the boy likes to jam out with Andrew and Cale, but please Kris, for your fans in the future, make this the song w/o because you’re just awesome moving around that stage on CSA!!!!

  12. I appreciate that Nuryj who took these videos – panned around over the band – its great to see how they are all reacting together now!!

Thanks for putting all of these performances in one folder MJ- makes it easier to refer to!!

Roll on 2010 !! Get your house cleaned & papers in order during the respite in January ready for when the tour hits in February- & hopefully lots of goodies from the tour!!

  13. It’s cool the crowds know the lyrics but disappointing they’re so tone deaf and almost loud enough you can’t hear Kris at all.

    Best to Kris!

  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUxrUIwjXg8&feature=player_embedded
A little banter. Kris says that this crowd is the best along with the one in Charlotte, “We played at MSG but they were all there for Justin Bieber, so…..” LOL!! and then he talks about writing Is It Over with Cale over the summer over the internet. When they all scream for Cale he tells them to give it up for ‘Cale and his beard’.
HYAMLC+ The Christmas Song (you can hear the first song, the second not so much) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8ibE9SNIro&feature=channel
From a recap I read over on ONTD_AI “The Truth” and the Christmas songs were a last minute addition to Kris’ set.
mj, the person who took these videos has also two videos of Jason (LJFILA, Hallelujah) but they are partial (only 53 and 29 sec) so I don’t know if they are worth posting

  15. Here’s a very detailed of last night’s concert with some great pictures and videos of both Jason’s and Kris’ set (along with a couple of blurry photos of Kris and the rest of his band watching The Fray’s set)

    http://likealocket.livejournal.com/352495.html

Hopefully MJ will post these videos of Jason (and whichever of Kris she hasn’t already posted) once she gets back from Archie’s concert

(hopefully this link works – doesn’t look like it is locked)

  16. I was there last night! It was an awesome concert!!! BTW: the review on live journal is awesome. My review is just me babbling.. LOL

Unfortunately, I do not have video’s or pictures. Although, I might have one of Chris Torres in a couple of days. Kris and the band were so awesome! Eventhough he played 9 songs, it felt like his set was too short. I honestly could have listened to him for the whole 3 hours. He had a lot of energy and really got the crowd into his music. The HOB was a perfect place for him and I hope he comes back on tour. I suggest anyone who has a chance to see him live, does. I am glad that there are videos that I can rewatch. It all seems like a blur. Funny note: I gave my SIL Kris’s CD at Thanksgiving. She is now a fan too. Between every song, she would scream “Let it Rain”. I told her I was pretty sure they wouldn’t be playing it, but she kept trying. LOL.

Re. The Truth: I really like this song on the CD. In person, there were parts that I loved (especially the beginning) and then there were a few parts that startled me a little because it was so loud out of nowhere. However, it really seemed to work witht he emotion of the song.

The crowd last night seemed to be mainly 20-50 years old, but there were people there of all ages (the tickets were $75 a piece and the teeny bopper bands played at another jingle balls last week). At first the crowd was a little quiet (but still cheered for him at the end of his song), but as Kris played, they really seemed to get more and more into his music. I could see the morning DJ from the radio station and by LLWD he was dancing along and really paying attention to Kris. People noticed him and I am sure he gained a few fans last night.

I am also a Jason fan. I enjoyed his set too, but he is completely different than Kris. Very laid back, compared to Kris’s bouncy set. The crowd really liked him and his Halleleujah was beautiful. Jason had a lot of fans there that I recognized from the tour last year. Sidenote on Jason: He came up to the merchandise table that was directly behind me and was taking pictures/signing autographs for awhile. His dad was with him. He is extremely personable and was great with everyone he met. I think my SIL got a picture of him, but not sure.

To me Leona Lewis was my least favorite act, but I still liked her. I couldn’t figure out if she was lip syncing in parts or not (but sometimes it seemed like it). The crowd was into her too. Cute note: While I was in line waiting to go inside, the radio station picked random people to go to a meet & greet with Jason & Leona (might have been Kris & The Fray too, but she didn’t ask my area for them). There were a couple of younger guys behind me and they were huge Leona fans. They were picked to meet Leona and I think it was the biggest event of their lives. They were SO excited.

The Fray was awesome, but I had a hard time understanding some of the songs. Plus, I was distracted. LOL.. I was sitting up in the balcony just a couple of steps up from the VIP section in HOB. Kris and everyone in the band except Ryland were standing on the steps directly across from me. At first they were left alone and Kris and Cale were really enjoying the music. Then people started coming over to Kris for pictures and stuff. I felt bad for the guy because it looked like he really just wanted to enjoy the music. But from what I heard he was still pretty nice to everyone. BTW: Chris Torres is hot! At one point during the night, I looked down into the VIP section and Chris was directly in front of me.. He ended up walking around outside of the VIP section and seemed really nice.

Conclusion: It was an awesome event and my SIL and I really enjoyed ourselves. We will both definitely be at Kris’s next concert in Orlando.

  18. Awe thanks so much for that girlgirl and wow Kris really gets into the songs he sings. And I love how he can look so sexy in those pictures.

ETA: Yay Jmom! Okay off to read your recap!!!

  20. Sorry for the double post…

I just gave my KA CD to a friend who I had lent it to before. Guess I’ll have to buy a new one. Darn!

Anyway, she said she really likes IIO (Her fave), likes AWM for a happy dance and is really getting into his Heartless. Amazing what new fans pick up on! (Because yeah, I can easily skip Heartless these days.)

I do think she’ll like more as she listens more. jmom’s post re: her sil made me think of this.

Thanks for sharing jmom! It’s nice to know that people truly do sit up and take notice. Esp. the dj! I’m happy you had a great time! :D

  21. Kris and his band seem to be having a lot of fun. Kris seems like he can relate to his band members because he is a musician and can jam with them.

He really seems to get into it and have fun.

Thank you girlygirl for that link that’s full of awesome!

And Thank you Jmom for your recap and glad that you had a GREAT time!

  23. jmom, thanks a lot for the recap! I hope Kris comes again to Orlando soon since it seems he had a good time there too.

but he is completely different than Kris. Very laid back, compared to Kris’s bouncy set.

That’s interesting to me, since right after Idol (and during the competition he was compared to Jason a lot, because of the laid-back vibe and the guitar, I guess) many thought that Kris will do sth similar to Jason and then he kind of surprised us. Certainly there are songs on Kris’ album that have the acoustic vibe that Jason does (like BIB, INTK, LIR, which I REALLY LOVE and I hope/wish/pray he continues to do stuff like that) but there also totally different songs that bring the bouncy side of Kris alive, lol, (like AWM, CSA etc.) which was new to everyone but thank god he discovered it or if it was already there thank god he managed to show it and to us.

cookcricket, I have really tried to understand why non-kris fans or new fans like the studio version of Heartless a lot more than his long-time fans. Maybe it’s because they are not so connected with the first acoustic version he did on Idol as we are. For me nothing can top that performance, OK, maybe the mash-up with Gangsta’s Paradise does top that but neither the studio version of Idol nor his album version are good enough for me. Maybe the surprise factor plays also a significant role, we didn’t expect him to do sth like that on Idol, he did it and it was GREAT, the same applies to the mash-up, for me that’s just GENIOUS. The acoustic version highlightes his vocals, the melody and the rythm of the song the best (the new fans don’t have all these things in mind). So his album version seems to be a totally different song (as Kris said in his interview with Jim). However now I have come to a point where I can enjoy this version too, since the beginning of the song and the heavily autotuned parts don’t annoy me as much as they did at first. I forget the existence of the acoustic version and the mash-up and I listen to it and enjoy it for what it is. (sorry about all that, apparently I’ve thought a lot about it, lol).

  24. Can’t wait to hear details on the tour. I hope he gets a good break and comes back raring to go. Near me!

Gorgeous photos of Kris from Orlando in this post at TWoP. Enjoy.

Thanks efm! From those pics, I think Kris hasn’t shaved in a while… Hmm.. may be he is trying to grow a beard with Cale or he is wanting to look more mature.. :) Shave or not, he is still my idol!

  29. efm, thanks for the pics. Nice! I’m not sure Kris would look right with a beard, but I like a bit of scruff!

  30. Ack! With extra kids and hubby home using the computer now, my chances to pop on mjs is limited. Sads. Only time tonight to catch up on the comments and look at pics (and there are some mighty fine pics, I must say!!). Thank you to all who posted the pics, vids and recaps! I’m so jealous that some of you have seen Kris live (fingers crossed for the tour–come to Notre Dame Kris!!).

I got out my Christmas placemats today and laughed because they are PLAID!! LOL I knew I was on the right team! Ha!

    Night all! :-)

LOL hoosiermama you’re one funny mama. :) Nite nite all!

  32. From the HOB review:

Kris was… amazing. I don’t even know. Seeing him perform so close up; he was all passion and talent and kicky feet and dino jaw and Kris. He absolutely pulls you in. He made me love Is It Over, which was not one of my favorites at all, and made me love the songs I already loved (basically, all the rest of the songs he sang) more. I was mostly right in front of Cale (guitarist/keyboardist) and Chris (bassist) and they were having so much fun. Ryland (drummer) was partially obscured by his cymbal, but he was awesome and Andrew (guitarist) was far away but he smiled a lot and sounded great. They have a really great dynamic together for being a band so short of a time and I can imagine it will only get better and better. We can has tour now?

End of set thoughts: Kris was. Just. The exorbitant ticket price was well worth it for his performance alone. To me, he earned every single vote he got on Idol, every favorable word and review from judge, fan, friend or journalist, every bit of credibility he’s been allotted by anyone or anything, anywhere. Every bit of that was completely validated for me last night. I was already a huge fan (no, really?) but now I’m sold on him in a way that doesn’t exactly surprise me, but makes me really, really happy all the same.

  33. I got out my Christmas placemats today and laughed because they are PLAID!! LOL I knew I was on the right team! Ha!

    LOL hoosiermama!

Thanks jmon for the recap and others for your input!
snif for this end of Jingle balls; i’ll miss them. I loved to watch each videos and how Kris always does something different with the songs in the moment.

  34. I love these videos and can Kris get any hotter?……sigh. I have never had a doubt about how talented he was from the first time I heard him sing on idol.

He together with Matt, Adam and Gokey were my picks from top36 week to go far in the competition. I had not paid attention to Allision by then. I guess I was looking at only the guys……being all pervy.
On another note,Kris has not tweeted since yesterday. I hope he’s feeling okay and he’ll definately have some rest before he travels to Seattle.
I’m being a worrywart for nothing, for all you know he’s having sweet times with his sweet Katy. She tweeted that she deflated the air mattress, haha and had a moment of silence for it.
I bet they have outdoored the new mattress by now.
Note to Kris: ” Dont worry about the fans, tweet us when you’re done, even if it’s after 3 days”. Haha.

Apparently, fans are tweeting each other wondering whether he’s okay since he’s not tweeted for 2 days. They forgot he just got back home to his wife after being away for over a week, they need quiet times, LOL!

  35. The off key sing along is a bit much. I wish people who are going to record these things thought that sort of thing out. You have to think about what you and those viewing the video will want to see and hear, and even you will later wish you didn’t have to hear yourself when you play it back.

Sounds like Ryland is improving. He seems like a cool guy too.

Can’t wait till he does an LA show. He’s really coming into his own.

  36. Still not feeling The Truth…I’d much rather see Kris sing Let it Rain or Red Guitar, that just seems to fit his style much better.

The band sounds great…I can’t wait for Kris to come to come to DC on his tour.

  37. Am going to miss these shows to. It was so much fun. I was reviewing some songs are Hitpractior last night and I got 4 songs of Kris’s to review that was so neat. I got WAOMF. TT, BWCU, and CSA. The truth was my first one. I also got I think about 3 Jason songs but don’t remember which one’s they were.

  38. “The radio station that sponsored last Sunday’s show in Philly has posted great quality videos of some of Kris’s set, including a wonderful Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas Philly Sound Studios

And for those that want mp3s of those songs, click here:MP3s of Philly Sound Studios”

Thanks so much kt_cle for posting these crystal clear videos. I love all the fans enthusiasm at these shows & that they have been singing along but it is great to just hear Kris & the band singing!!

  39. Seems like Kris and Jason would be compatible to tour together, both mellow, similar singer/songwriter vibe, probably a lot of fan overlap or at least not fans who would hate the other one.

I did my Christmas shopping for the men on my list and was almost shocked that it seemed the entire men’s departments were plaid. (I don’t shop very often) This is very metro LA, so we’re not talking the hunting/fishing crowd. Who knew?!

  41. I loved those reviews from people who were at the HoB in Orlando.

This was quite cool to see at TWoP in one of the posts. It’s the Highlights for the Billboard NYE concert.

As a fan of both of them and seeing them perform in the same venue in Orlando, I disagree with this. Yes they are both singer/songwriters, but I don’t think Kris is mellow at all. Honestly, after Kris started performing, I completely forgot about Jason (sorry Jason). I don’t think it would be a disaster if they played in some of the same venues, but I don’t think it would be the most benefitial for either of them to do so.

  45. I am starting to like Jason more but not a really big fan of him, but I just love Kris. I don’t think there similar at all. I wouldn’t cry if they toured together and I’D stay to watch but of them but I would prefer Kris to do something like David Cook or tour with someone else over Jason. I just have no idea on who.

  46. LOL Ilovekrisallen39. We said almost the samething and I was thinking the David Cook line of tour too. After watching the “Can’t Stay Away” video from Charlotte, I am pretty sure that Kris wouldn’t have an issue with winning over college age girls.

  47. Kris’ music isn’t nearly as mellow as Jason Castro’s. And It’s not a good idea for Idols to tour together — how does that help them break out of the AI bubble? Kris needs to tour with an established person with no AI ties at all if he wants to expand his fanbase.

Oh and if you go by ontd_ai, Kris already has a LOT of college-aged female fans. Which isn’t surprising, given the fact he’s only 24 years old, is very talented and is an extremely good-lloking guy.

Finally, thanks to kt_cle for posting link to the Philly videos. Those are gorgeous.

  48. I agree that Jason and Kris would probably not make the best team for a tour. I do like them both.

    I need some Kris news!!

Aha! A Kris sighting!!! From a girl in LA:

“so I passed KrisAllen today in a cross walk. We made eye contact. Merry Christmas to me!”

  49. Yendiders from ontd_ai posted her recap of the Orlando show, but it is locked, so unless you are an ontd_ai member, you won’t be able to read it.

She had a nice encounter with Kris after his set…

    QUOTE:

“After his set finished me and my friend decided to leave and walk around the venue. We ended up going upstairs and were watching the show from a little corner. So, we’re just hanging out there by ourselves and all of a sudden my friend spots Jason, Cale and Kris come out into a hallway. I smiled at kris and he waves and starts walking towards us. We spoke for a bit, he remembered us from previous shows and said it was great seeing us again. :D :D :D He signed our CDs and we took a pic with him. Cale was there as well we spoke for a bit as well and took pics, they were both super sweet. Then, they stood around and were watching the Fray’s set it was nice to see them jamming to music and stuff :). People kept going up to Kris while he was watching the show for pics and eventually there was a mob of people around us and someone came and took him away.”

and she posted a bunch of videos — she recorded his entire set.

Here’s link to her YouTune page.

  53. Kris was either running all over L.A. today, or all of these tweeters were in the Hollywood/WeHo area. Because here’s another Kris sighting…

The apartment is in LA, so it’s not real surprising. I’m sure Kris hasn’t had time to house hunt.

P.S. Now we know how he stays so buff!!

Here’s a video someone made to Kris’s HYAMLC with snowmen…kinda cute if you like snowmen.

Awwww, thanks for posting this Diane! So adorable! It’s amazing how creative people can be with snowmen.

I think I need at least 1 (if not more) daily dose of Kris’s HYAMLC throughout this season! :)

  60. AOL Radio has added several deep cuts off Adam’s and Kris’ albums to its Pop Idols channel. They are playing Bring It bac as I type this!
