  1. Great pictures. So glad both Katy and Kris got to experience this together. The Bridge2Rwanda.org is impressive with all of the development projects they have going on in Rwanda. Would not have heard of it if it hadn’t been for my interest in Kris. Best of all, their projects have the support of Rwanda’s president. Some tweeted that they got some video of the President. Don’t know if Kris got to meet him or not. Even so, Kris makes a great cross-cultural ambassador. He’s such a natural. Thank you to all of you who are part of the team. Proud of you!

  2. I don’t have much to say, just want to show my support for Kris and Katie and their work with this cause.

  3. Ah, Kris. Am I missing you this year, fella, especially your musicianship, but glad to see you out there on behalf of humanity.

You wanna see something cute, check out Kris’s twitter — there’s a photo of a baby gorilla he “met” while hiking in Rwanda, and a note about bringing it home in his backpack. Pocket Idol’s Pocket Pet!

  4. That’s so great that all those people are helping out like that.

  5. It’s great that so many people are involved with this TOMS Shoes/Bridge2Rwanda project. And Kris really does seem like a natural with this stuff. From his face in the photos, it’s clear how happy he is just to be there trying to give something back.

(Not sure what’s going on with the rolled-up jeans though, unless it’s simply to show they are wearing TOMS Shoes…)

  6. Gotta love this guy! I gifted my family with TOMS shoes this Christmas and was told 11 children recieved shoes because of my purchases. Such a simple thing. My daughter and son both have two pairs of TOMS. My son wears his every day to school. He loves them.

Kris Allen gives me joy. He is a very good soul.

  7. I hope Katy is prepared for a lifetime of sore arms as I see Kris doing this for a long time! Seeing pictures like this puts all the “fan wars” in their proper place.

    Love Kris!

  8. “Kris Allen gives back”… wonder if IGB will not show some pictures of this. It’s not their initiative but still is an idol giving back.

Thanks for posting the pictures. It’s fun to see him there. He’s an engaging man and have a very social personality

  9. My favorite band, Hanson, partnered with TOMS shoes a while back and did the same thing. I own a few pairs of TOMS shoes myself, I don’t really love them myself more house shoes for me, but I love knowing what they went to. Hanson also held walks in every city they did a concert in to raise awareness. They sometimes walked barefoot, I wasn’t that brave.

I’m so glad to see that Kris and Katy are supporting such a worthwhile cause. MAkes me want to buy another pair of TOMS.

me too! i’ll check where i can get those.

Kris started following @TweetPhoto, a sharing photo service. Maybe he’ll make soon a lot of his pictures available for us to see

Kris will be hosting a walk April 8th in Little Rock, AR. He will also be having a concert at the Riverfront Park Amphitheater that same day. It’s site of his first coming home concert last year during the final 3 when he said “Look at all those people”.

  12. Those pics of Kris with the kids are just too beautiful. It’s easy to be a Kris fan. He’s just a wonderful person inside and out.

I wouldn’t worry about Katy. She’s done missions overseas as well. I believe they did one in Africa together before working with children affected by AIDS.

I wouldn’t expect AI to use any of this for IGB. It’s not related like the Haiti trip was. This is something personal Kris is doing.

  13. Sigh, I think I’m stuck with this guy.
He is just impressing me more and more with his music, his voice, his incredible character and yes, his looks.

Have fun Kris & Katy and be safe.

  14. When he’s not playing his music, he’s out and about with humanitarian deeds!
My admiration also goes to Katy for standing by his man.
Such a good effort to spend Easter together.

    Well done Kris and Katy!
    Happy Easter Everyone!

  15. I know this is shallow, but that picture of them is darling. They are about the cutest little couple I’ve ever seen, I’ll swear! lol

  16. Its so good that Kris & Katy get to do this together just like they used do before AI. This is another positive for Kris doing AI- as it raises the profile of any causes Kris is a part of. Being from Australia I hadn’t heard of TOMS shoes bit I will now seek out if its here!
Its great that he comes straight back to Arkansas to promote this further . I think his Mum will be pleased to see him back home safely after her tweet about getting close to the gorillas!Lol!

  17. I’m sold! I’m pretty sure my next shoes purchase will be TOMS shoes. I’ve been to their website. They look great for summer, esp. when the ol’ toenail polish is chipping. LOL! I’ll go back again to see if they can purchased elsewhere, but if not, I’ll buy online.

Thanks for sharing all of this info. mj!

I’m proud to be Kris fan for sure! I’m starting to think that the two places Kris is truly in his element are on stage and on foreign soil! (Oh, I think Arkansas is up there too.) I’m so happy Kris and Katie are there sharing this together.

  18. I knew I recognized TOMS shoes. It’s owned by Blake Mycoskie, who was part of Team Teeth from The Amazing Race. They were my fave team that season.

  19. I think it is awesome that Kris is still able to do something he apparently loves to do and now he is able to bring more awareness to those charities. He seems like an all around great guy. I really hope Kris writes a song or two inspired by his trip to Haiti and Rwanda. Land of Smiles is a gorgeous/heartfelt song and one of my favorites from BNS.

BTW: I am not sure if everyone else sees it, but on the right-hand side I see a TOMS advertisement that will take you to their Website if you want to find out more about their company.

I just clicked on the Tom’s ad and found out where I can buy them in my city. I’ve never seen them in Canada, but I know where to look now. Thanks MJ for posting the Tom’s ad.

  21. His “friends” that are in the photos he tweeted are adorable. You can see Kris taking the pic reflected in the sunglasses the little kid is wearing

I love those pics and those big smiles :) . Kris seems to have such a warm and easy way with people.

  22. @KrisAllen meet some of my friends that got new shoes today and yesterday. http://tweetphoto.com/16401091

This just goes to show you that kids are kids the world over. My own would always get sooo excited every time they got a new pair of shoes–just like these kiddos! :-)

So glad that Kris and Katy get to be a part of this wonderful program.

Thanks for posting the pics and tweets–love ’em!

  23. This is fantastic. I’m so glad he and Katy got to take this opportunity.

  24. For every TOMS shirt they donate a pair of shoes too so if you don’t really like the shoes – buy one of their shirts:)

  25. I still just love this guy. What a sweetheart. Both my favorite idols ever, Kris and David Cook are doing great things for charity. Very proud fan here.
