You’re definitely going to want to listen to this. And then RUN RUN RUN to your record store (or surf over to iTunes!) on the 29th to buy it. This is a really wonderful holiday collection.
Kelly does it all. Rock, blues, country and standards–she navigates genres with such ease. It’s a shame the business insists on pigeonholing recording artists, because the original flavah American Idol can truly sing ANYTHING.
She nails standards like “White Christmas” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” Love the bluesy “Run Run Rudolph” and “Blue Christmas.” “Winter Dream” is romantic fun. Kelly takes on Broadway, beautifully, with “Favorite Things.” And the Reba/Trisha/Kelly triumvirate perform a simple and gorgeous “Silent Night.” But I absolutely ADORE her cover of Imogene Heap’s “Just for Now.”
A truly eclectic collection of great performances. That’s Wrapped in Red.
