Katy Perry hinted at “real truth” about her ex-husband Russell Brand who is accused of rape
Katy Perry has stayed mum on the allegations of rape and sexual and emotional abuse leveled against her ex-husband Russell Brand. But outlets have dug up an old interview where she hints at her ex’s dark side. Also, in a 2013 interview on the Tonight Show with Katharine McPhee, Brand aggressively came on to the American Idol alum.
The Katy Perry interview, also from 2013, was with Vogue magazine. She claimed to know the “real truth” about the English actor and comedian, but promised to “keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day.” The American Idol judge split with Brand in 2012 after two years of marriage. He broke up with her via text.
One of the assaults Brand is accused of happened just months after his divorce from the pop singer.

Fans at the time speculated that the comedian became jealous of his wife’s stardom, which was bigger than his own. Katy said that Brand didn’t like her being the “boss,” and described him as “very controlling” in the Vogue interview.
The comments have resurfaced following allegations levied against Brand that he sexually assaulted four women, including a 16-year-old, between 2006 and 2013, according to a joint investigation published Saturday by the Times of London and Channel 4 Dispatches.
Following the report the BBC said it as a launched its own internal investigation into the allegations. The production company Banijay UK is launching its own probe. Brand had worked at the BBC as a radio presenter during the time of the first assaults.
Brand broke up with Katy via text
The couple had been together since 2009 and the pair started officially dating following that year’s MTV Video Music Awards. They were married the following year, with their marriage lasting only 14 months.
One of the accusers, named Nadia, claimed that Brand raped her “against a wall” in his Los Angeles home in July 2012, five months after the divorce with Katie was finalized.
By then, Katy was completely out of Brand’s life. She told Vogue: “Let’s just say I haven’t heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011.”

The Tonight Show interview with Katharine McPhee was awkward from the start. She appeared on the show in February 2013, and was promoting her NBC musical drama Smash. As she sat down next to Brand, his hands were all over her.
After pawing Katharine from his chair, she got up and sat in his lap playfully before he gave up his seat next to the desk. That could have been the end of it. But no. He kept coming on to her, suggesting she could drop her husband. (She was married to first husband, Nick Kokas at the time). “I’m only joking,” Brand said. “You must never destroy a marriage unless you are very bored.” At that point, he got up and left the stage. It was all very jokey, with host Jimmy Fallon playing along. But in hindsight, the bit is creepy. Weird how his comedy derived from his reputation for being a sex pest.
