Kara Dioguardi’s dad, Joe Dioguardi, had been voted off the show! The New York State Republican convention, that is.
The elder Dioguardi, was vying to be the Republican candidate to run against Kirsten Gillibrand in November for the US senate seat in New York. But two other candidates, Bruce Blakeman and David Malpass received more votes from convention delegates.
Joe D. promised to petition his way on to face the top two finishers, but it looks like his run is probably over.
Kara, in New York this week, spoke to a group of young republicans on her dad’s behalf at the convention Tuesday night. Now, he can cry on her shoulder.
