Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Philllips Join Forces for a Radio Shack Promo

I just got a good look at a high quality version of the Radio Shack commercial that stars Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phililp’s song (AND HOPEFULLY NEW SINGLE) “Gone Gone Gone”.

The American Idol runner-up and winner, respectively, have teamed up for a totally epic 20 second promo spot that takes its inspiration from a scene in the classic John Cusack film, Say Anything.

In the 1989 movie, directed by Cameron Crowe, John’s character holds up a huge beatbox that is blasting Peter Gabriel’s passionate ballad, “In Your Eyes”.  The Radio Shack’s contemporary twist has a smitten boy holding up a significantly smaller “The Pill” radio by Beats (That’s Idol mentor and UMG exec, Jimmy Iovine’s company, hence the connection).

The new scene is maybe not QUITE as epic as Cusack’s, but it goes to show in this day and age, you don’t need to be a well-toned kickboxer to woo your lady love. Heh.
