The UK Daily News is reporting that Jennifer Lopez is getting a pay raise to re-join the American Idol judges’ panel:
In mid-August there were rumours that Jennifer, the mother of five-year-old twins Max and Emme, was getting a $15m salary for her third season of Idol, but the figure is actually higher.
The $17.5m salary is a big leap from the $12m paycheck J-Lo was handed for her first season of Idol in 2011. For her second season she was given a $3m raise to $15m.
Actually, there have been conflicting reports about Jlo’s salary. I’ve heard she was paid as much as 18 million for her second season. But still, she’s getting paid a substantial salary, from a show that’s been losing ad revenue in the past couple of years.
When the cast and crew are relegated to paying for their own snacks because of budget restrictions, it’s kind of annoying to read about Jlo’s all-star salary. One that’s not earned, if you ask me. She’d better step it up and offer the hopefuls some constructive criticism this year. Behave like you’re rubbing a few brain cells together when you show up for work, m’kay?
