The FOX hit show, Empire, will feature a few special guest stars as it winds up its first SMASH season! Oscar winner, and American Idol alum, Jennifer Hudson is set to play Michelle, a musical therapist hired to work with the troubled Lyon son, Andre (Trai Byers).
The episode, titled “Sins of the Father” will air Wednesday March 11 on FOX at 9/8c pm, following American Idol.
Here’s a first listen to the song Jennifer will sing, the sweeping and emotional ballad,”Remember the Music.” Her character, Michelle sings it as she helps Andre come to terms with his mental illness, and his dysfunctional relationship with his family.
Also set to appear is singer and songwriter, Mary J. Blige as a woman from Lucious’ (Terrence Howard) past. Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) is not going to like that!
The song premiered on People.com today. Jennifer told the magazine, “‘Remember the Music’ truly exemplifies the power that music can have in all of our lives.”
“In my own life and my own art, I have always aimed to move past barriers and step outside my comfort zone as much as possible,” the singer went on to say, “and music has always been a tool that has allowed me to do so. This song really showcases the ability that music has in helping people to find strength and clarity.”
