Jennifer Hudson and Harry Connick Jr. plus other entertainers performed at Madison Square Garden Friday night (Sept. 25) at a concert in honor of Pope Francis on his first visit to the United States.
The two hour event preceded a mass celebrated by the pope. Other performers included Gloria Estefan, who sang “Mas Alla,” plus several Broadway actors. Stephen Colbert made a video appearance, welcoming to the Gardeb “Catholics and the non-Catholics who arrived really early for a Knicks game.”
Here’s the American Idol season 3 alum wowing the crowd with a powerful rendition of “Hallelujah.” Jennifer included some of the not-so-religious verses, but the crowd didn’t seem to mind.
American Idol judge and musician/singer, Harry Connick Jr. performed the hymn “How Great Thou Art.”
