Caleb Johnson escorted Jena Irene to her senior prom in at North Farmington High School outside of Detroit, MI Wednesday night! The American Idol 13 winner and runner-up–who call each other “best friends”– have been planning to attend the event for weeks.
In a recent interview, Jena talked about how Caleb became her prom date. “It started out as a joke. A couple months ago when we were still in Top 8-Top 7,” she admits. “As we got closer to the finale, I was like ‘Wait I actually don’t have a date. I’m planning on going.’ He said ‘We’re going, right?’ He was serious the whole time! I was like, “Alright. Let’s just go!’ Our schedules were able to accommodate with the date. I’m really excited. I still don’t have a dress, and I’m freaking out!”
Jena got her wardrobe together, beautifully, as you can see from the above photo, and shots from her mom Julie’s twitter feed. Caleb, however, is looking a little bit casual. Jena doesn’t seem to mind, though.

FOX News interviewed the couple outside the high school.
The two didn’t arrive in Detroit until 4 p.m. Jena says they ate at the restaurant where she waitresses and then went to prom.
Caleb will fly home tomorrow and Jena says she’ll stay in town for a few weeks to walk across the stage and graduate with her class.
Caleb said he planned on dancing the “wobble” or that maybe he’d twerk. I wonder if that actually happened? VIDEO PLEASE!
