Janelle Arthur Set to Release Single “What You Asked For” (Cover Art)

American Idol Season 12 alum, Janelle Arthur, came in 5th place in a season that was full of talented girls. It’s been a little over a year since she competed on the show, but finally, the country singer is releasing some new music. You can pre-order the song, “What You Asked For,”  beginning July 25.

She made the announcement Tuesday on twitter.

The singer has also signed on with a PR Firm.  Janelle has been performing in and around the Nashville area, including a recent appearance at the Grand Ole Opry. Lots of luck to her!  I loved her performances on American Idol.

  1. “I loved her performances on American Idol.” Me too. She was one of my favorites and it annoyed me how the panel belittled her.

  2. Gray Area Marketing

Our Process: “Gray Area Marketing is constantly observing the marketplace on a daily basis and because of that, we are capable of launching you and your brand. Our goal is to place you front and center. We stop at nothing to provide the highest level of services to each and every one of our clients on an individual basis.”

ETA: I don’t recognize any of their clients execpt, Sebastian Janikowski from the Oakland Raiders.

  3. Are fields a thingy for fem country singers? Or am I thinking I’ve seen this style more often than I really have

  4. Without a label, I’m not sure how much this partnership is going to help her. I guess they can try to get her name in some country publications, get her invited to events, things like that?

She’s been playing out around Nashville a lot recently. Hopefully that will help her got more exposure.

  5. I am happy for Janelle but she really needs better material. The song she is releasing is not very good, a compilation of cliche phrases. She has the talent, just needs some good songs not sure how a PR firm will help with that. This PR firm also represents Rion Page from X-Factor.

  6. I like Janelle but this is confusing. Is she releasing a CD or children’s book?

  7. The visual convention for new female country acts is less children’s book than “romance novel of the 1980s.”

Beautiful, spunky Alfalfa Jones moves to Montana to investigate the mysteries surrounding her grandparents’ ranch. As she learns to wrangle cows and cowboys, she’s intrigued by hunky Stone Creek, owner of local watering-hole Bar None and a skilled pilot. Sometimes you get What You Asked For.

I’d love to know why this is the convention (do young women go for this look due to memories of sneaking their moms’ semi-erotic bodice rippers?) and if it’s really the best approach. At the same time, Janelle Arthur’s a good pick for “beautiful and spunky.”
