ITV Renews X Factor UK and Britain’s Got Talent Through 2016

While it’s up in the air whether the poorly performing X Factor USA will be renewed for a 4th season, across the pond, the UK’s ITV is still ready to do business with Simon Cowell. He’s inked a multi-year deals for both the X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

ITV is extending its relationship with Simon Cowell for another three years. The British network has pacted with Cowell and Sony’s Syco Entertainment and FremantleMedia UK to keep reality competition series The X Factor UK and Britain’s Got Talent on the air through the end of 2016. Britain’s Got Talent will return to ITV next spring for an eighth series. The 11th series of The X Factor will air in the fall. The renewals had been expected, although there has been some question as to Cowell’s involvement with The X Factor going forward.

If X Factor US is cancelled, Simon will surely go back to the UK-flavor judges panel, which airs almost simultaneously. The UK ratings aren’t what they used to be, with numbers sinking to a series low last December.

There were rumors that the popular 2010 panel–Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell–would reunite in 2014.  Simon currently sits on the BGT judges panel with Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.
