We’ve got three shows representing on tour this week. Idol has Season 11 contestant Colton Dixon opening for CCM super-star tobyMac in Minneapolis, Auditioner Tori Kelly selling out her solo stop in Memphis and Idol Semi-finalist Todrick Hall in Clearwater. From the Voice, Danielle Bradbury is on the CMT Tour for their Rhode Island stop. And finally, we have America’s Got Talent on tour for two stops.
These are exciting time for chart watchers. Not only is this week turning up impressive numbers for Justin Bieber and X-Factor UK’s One Direction (one has to get in the way back machine to see numbers this high for the top 2 – 2009 when BGT’s Susan Boyle and Alicia Keyes went head to head or 2007 for a week when two albums debuted north of 400K – The infamous Kayne West and 50 cent debut week feud), but next week looks to be one for the record books.
Queen Adele is releasing her third album and is preparing to blow the doors off of everything. She already has pre-orders of 500K and has set an Amazon record for pre-orders at 100K. Apple digital sales are predicted at 900K and CD sales at 1.5M. Digital pre-orders should sit at around 450K. Projections have her selling 2.5M units in her debut week which has never happened before in SoundScan history. It would break the long-held *NSYNC record from March 26, 2000 when “No Strings Attached” sold 2.415M. Adele could be at 4M by Christmas.
