Idols In Concert – Stats – 08/28/14

What did you do with your summer vacation? One Direction earned almost $130M touring on both sides of the Atlantic with various opening acts. Top that. I’m pretty sure they will be the top touring act of 2014. They just keep minting money and selling out all their concerts.

Proving that concert goers don’t just go for new and young, Queen (with Adam Lambert singing lead) sold-out Madison Square Gardens. Touring in Australia, The Voice (I’m assuming this is the Oz version) holds concerts in Sydney and Brisbane.

  4. just for Colton. According to a source at UKMix, he sold just under 10K.

  5. HiphopDx says #77 sold 3818 and #189 sold 1954, so between that. Testify’s likely near 2000-2500, which would be a larger than average drop — but as I said yesterday, it makes no career difference and the label had to have expected it.

  6. I’m thinking Testify will likely have 1 more week at most on the BB200 and then drop off.

  7. For someone who understands numbers why is GRL doing so much better on HAC than they are on Pop

  8. So I guess The Voice Australia is more popular than the US….I saw on here a few weeks back that most of the venues on The Voice USA’s tour were barely filled….

  9. Chart News @chartnews · 15h
    Billboard Hot 100: #64(+8) Bo$$, @FifthHarmony [7 weeks]. *peak #43*

    Chart News @chartnews · 4h
    Billboard Hot 100: #26(=) Really Don’t Care, @ddlovato Feat. @CherLloyd [12 weeks].

  10. I haven’t heard the song, but there are any number of possible reasons, such as the label pushing it harder to HAC than to CHR, to the song not fitting what CHR stations are looking for to it just being harder to get CHR play because of the competition.

  11. it sounds like a CHR song that after peaking in the top 10 would do well on HAC, so its just surprising to me. But you should give it a listen, its one of the few pop songs i REALLY like right now (and it features an XFUSA and SYTYCD alum)

  12. Wow, One Direction are beasts! Good for them!

Nice to see Queen + Adam at MSG was SOLD OUT. The security guard standing at the end of our row said it was sold out (and it certainly looked it), but it’s always nice to see it officially confirmed. :)

  13. This is Phillip Phillips’ 90th appearance on the BB200!
Colton Dixon has now surpassed Katharine McPhee in BB200 appearances.
This is Scotty McCreery’s 4th song to be in Hot 100/Bubbling Under!

  14. The impressive thing about the Queen + Adam concerts is that the audience is so diverse. Young, older and between. Brian seems really happy to see so many young ones there. Shows that their music is known and loved across generations. Of course Adam helps with that somewhat. Great that they are being so well received.

  15. I’m thinking we may have already seen the end of American Idol S13 summer tour reports. TPTB at Idol apparently know which strings to pull to keep most of the numbers confidential when they aren’t good. They’ve done it before. Complete reports have been a regular thing except for S9, S12 and now S13 when many of them would be embarrassing.

  16. From roughstock #116 sold 2800 and #152 sold 2200. Testify probably sold around 2500. If it follows the normal sales pattern it will be off the chart next week.

  17. I don’t know the population of Australia relative to the US, but the Voice AU tour was only about 6 shows in total, over maybe 2 weeks.

  18. Lÿndsey Parker @lyndseyparker
.@KrisAllen fans, next week’s #yahoolive live stream concert is FREE! The “buy tickets” link is for his tourdates, NOT for his live stream.

Link: Live from Mohawk Community College, Utica, NY https://t.co/honUlHsXjZ

  19. The audiences in Korea and Japan were predominantly young (20s), yet they knew the lyrics of all the Queen songs. I’m sure Queen was surprised and very, very pleased.

  20. What I meant was the source is that website, not someone from UKMix.

  21. I had a family behind me at The Forum, I’d say the kids were 10 & 12. They sang along to almost every song! Very cute!

  22. YOUR TOP 15: As expected, Ariana Grande will top next week’s chart, and Queen Bey may return to the Top 15 following her MTV VMAs performance. Here’s how it looks headed into the weekend:

    *Ariana Grande (Republic) 150-170k
    *Brad Paisley (Arista Nashville) 48-53k
Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix, Vol. 1 (Hollywood) 45-50k
    * KEM (Motown) 45-50k
    Sam Smith (Capitol) 28-32k
    Wiz Khalifa (Atlantic) 23-26k
    Now 51 (NOW) 23-26k
    *Avenged Sevenfold (Hopeless) 23-26k
    Frozen (Walt Disney) 21-24k
5 Seconds of Summer (Capitol) 19-22k
    Chase Rice (Dack Janiels/Thirty Tigers/Columbia Nashville) 15-17k
    Ed Sheeran (Atlantic) 15-17k
Iggy Azalea (Grand Hustle/Def Jam) 13-15k
    *G-Unit (G-Unit) 12-14k
    Beyoncé (Columbia) 12-14k
    Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville) 12-14k
    *Steffany Gretzinger (Bethel Music) 12-14k
    *Thousand Foot Krutch (TFK) 11-13k
    *The New Pornographers (Matador) 11-13k

    * Debuts

In other news, what doesn’t kill me makes me stronger. Unless it’s the forthcoming HITS 28th Anniversary Issue. (8/28p)

  23. It’s about where it should be in terms of his current level of exposure and his opening album sales.

The thing that’s going to drive P2’s future is how the new single does on radio and how well a hit (if it is one) translates to music sales. That’s a much bigger deal than where album sales bounce around between singles.

  24. Simon plays this game well. He finds one group and runs with them. He pours a ton of money into making the star of the moment. He could further many careers, but that’s not how he works. Wonder who,is next on his star making list?

  25. His financial returns on One Direction are probably enormous. But he can’t just buy success — he tried the same moves with Emblem Three and didn’t get very far at all.

  26. Heard he formed an 8 piece boyband on X-Factor UK this year…Wonder how that will turn out…

  27. He;s doing pretty well with Fifth Harmony. Pouring loads on them now. We’ll see how that turns out.

  28. This is information. It can’t be bad or good, it is.
    And, Yes, it’s not bad.
