Idols In Concert – Stats – 08/26/10

This week is thin on the boxscores. We get stats for two Idols and it is both from the same concert (Chris and Kris).

In other strange news, we get yet another Boxscore that doesn’t agree with what we previously got from Pollstar. What is going on? Not only did the number of people who attended change, but so did the size of the venue. Revenue is the same down to the dollar (curiouser and curiouser). I’ll include it here for completeness for those who want a consistent set of stats.

  1. For that AI concert, it is interesting that both the number of tickets sold and the number of tickets available differ by 863. Something is hinky with those 863 tickets. Too bad the numbers don’t work out to those being 4 packs. Maybe it’s 4 packs and something else hinky. Or it’s the super discounted tickets.

  2. solid #’s for Chris/Kris concert

the AI #’s discrepancy is weird, to be sure

  3. I’m pretty sure the heavy discounting/special offer this year is messing up the numbers. If you use Pollstar’s numbers, the average ticket price this venue is $59.31, not too far from those from last three years (the number you gave for Season 8 tour was $62.19, Season 7 $60.76, Season 6 $59.92). Since we know of the cheap tickets this year, this seems an unreasonable figure. Perhaps Pollstar ignores certain discounted tickets.

  7. Weren’t there buy 1 ticket get 1 free sales for some shows? Maybe one report counts that at 1 ticket sold while the other counts it as 2?

  8. CindyM: Wow! Those Costa Mesa stats for Adam are great! I didn’t realize both of them had sold out.

Yeah, really. That’s a big venue, too!

  10. There are now published boxscores for 21 dates of the Glam Nation Tour (out of 51 total dates completed so far). Cumulative stats for the 21 published dates:

    Total gross – $1,926,645
    Average gross – $91,745

Did anyone ever find out the capacity on that Quebec show- I heard anywhere from 25-75,000. Some people clearly have problems with estimations :)

ETA: Found this article and used the google translator. 50,000 reported at the concert, but 75,000 in attendance of the festival:

    http://lejournaldemontreal.canoe.ca/journaldemontreal/artsetspectacles/scene/archives/2010/08/20100824-051416.html

WOW!!!! for 50k audience goshhh wonder how much Adam will get paid for that show :D also very impressed with Costa mesa OC stats

Adam is doing REALLY REALLY good :)

Since these are stats for less than half the GNT dates, do you think we can safely say that actual stats for all 51 dates are approximately twice or more of what is shown here? That would put total gross at about 4 million and Adam is not done yet. This is pretty astounding to me for a first time headlining artist. No wonder they want to keep extending the tour.

After the show finished i think the total gross can easily reach more than USD5.0M or even 6.0M. That stats is only for the US tour. and the world tour also will bring him a lot of money too :))

SO SO happy for Adam :))

The boxscore stats show that average revenue received per ticket sold is $35.42. I am estimating (based on venue/primary ticket marketer reports of sellouts, and educated guesses for the few non sold out events) total attendance for all 51 shows to date of 122,379. Assuming the average ticket price for all of the shows is about the same as for the subset of the 21 shows with boxscores, the estimated total gross to date calculates to a little over $4.3 million. Assuming further that the entire Glam Nation Tour as a whole sells 95% of available tickets, based on the total capacity of all the venues I come up with an estimated total gross for 72 North American GNT dates of about $6.1 million.

That total does not include events that were not officially advertised as GNT such as K-FEST, Toronto, the Michigan music festivals, Musikfest, Montreal or Tampa. Adam probably receives a minumum guaranteed payment plus a percentage of ticket revenue for those events. That total also does not include merchandise sales, or any of the international dates.

I’m sure there are a lot of expenses that have to be taken care of from Adam’s share of the gross revenue, but I think he is doing just fine financially from this. Especially as you said for a first-time headliner.

  15. 50,000? Wow that’s really impressive. Was Adam the only performer at that Quebec festival or were there other acts?

  16. Was Adam the only performer at that Quebec festival or were there other acts?

That was just Adam, Ori and Alli, no other acts.

  17. The boxscore stats show that average revenue received per ticket sold is $35.42.

And if you take out the Costa Mesa shows where the ticket prices were lower than any other shows, and heavily weighted because of the large attendance, the average ticket price is $39 I believe.

  18. It would be nice to include a separate listing for those events such as the musikfest or lansing concerts or where Adam/Orianthi/Allison were the only acts. It seems a little incomplete to present those stats as estimation of revenue without including the others. I’m not including the radio shows where there are multiple acts. Especially since he performs the full glamnation presentation. Maybe a separate set of numbers? Damn, I sound ungrarteful and I’m not, really! Thanks so much for the info you do give us!

  19. EYWFLYER- Who did that spreadsheet, do you know? One of the other boards wants to use it as reference but wants to give credit.

I have a separate tab on the spreadsheet (link upthread) for the non GNT events such as the ones you mention. I’ll report revenue numbers for that category too if they come in, but so far I haven’t seen boxscores posted for any of those events. Also, some of those events (like Chesaning and Musikfest) had separate ticketing for Adam’s show, while others (Lansing and Montreal) did not. It’s very difficult to say exactly how many people were there for Adam’s show vs. whatever else was going on in cases where there was not a separate ticket required, which is why the “festival” events as I call them do not have tickets sold numbers reported on the spreadsheet.

Notice on Taylor’s gig the attendance x price doesn’t work out to equal the gross. I think maybe 20 lucky fans got in free, which is $790 out of someone’s pocket. He puts on a great show, so it’s a pity to see skimpy numbers.

So if you go here it will give you the top 200 but if you change the one number from this part (part in bold)

    sf=9173441/limit=0000/

say make the 9 an 8 then hit enter it will give you the top 1000
