Idol Sales News – Week Ending 10/02/11

No numbers yet, but what many people will be waiting for today are the numbers for next week anyway. Today the HDD’s one-day sales predictions for debuting albums will be released. This season, Idol managed to turn its ratings around. It managed to move a significant amount of coronation singles. It repaired its tour attendance. Can Season 10 conquer the post-season and produce a viable recording artist? This is their first of five chances. First week numbers don’t tell the entire tale (Jordin recovered from lower than usual numbers to go on to sell platinum), but it is often one of the early clues.

What kind of numbers would indicate success? Not having the same season-to-season drop we’ve seen lately? Selling as much as the previous winner? Selling as much as the judge from The Voice? Or selling in the range of the Idol winners of yore? Whatever happens, I can almost guarantee that there will be some that call Scotty a flop while others are ecstatic at the numbers predicted to be sold. Let’s keep it sane in here folks.
