Idol News Roundup: David Archuleta, Carrie Underwood, Daughtry and More

  • David Archulta has a busy, busy summer ahead of hem. He’s already working on the followup to his 2008 debut album, David Archuleta.  Plus, he’s got a Christmas album in the works, and is set to embark on a summer tour with Disney star, Demi Levato. via Hollywood Outbreak.
  • Carrie Underwood’s incredible merlot silk taffeta gown she wore during her performance at the 2009 Academy of Country Music Awards will be featured in a special exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame beginning June 11. Carrie took home awards for Entertainer of the Year and Top Female Vocalist at the ACM Awards. The exhibit will run through December 31. via Americanidol.com
  • Kellie Pickler has been added to the performance lineup for the 2009 CMT Music Awards, and American Idol’s Randy Jackson, will serve as a presenter. The awards show takes place June 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT at Nashville’s Sommet Center and will be telecast live on CMT and CMT.com. via CMT.
  • Hit record producer Tricky Stewart (“Single Ladies”) is currently in talks with Idol judge Simon Cowell to produce a vocal talent search competition. The details are under wraps for now, but will be revealed later this year. via singersroom.
  • Rumor has it Australian singer, Kylie Minogue, is planning to work with Idol judges, Paula Abdul and Kara DioGuardi on her next album. Minogue worked with Paula and Kara before, on her hit single “Spinning Around” back in 2000. According to sources, Kylie hopes to record with Paula and Kara while she’s in the US on a mini-tour later this summer. via AngryApe.
  • Daughtry is set to perform tonight with Foriegner in Fayettesville AR as part of the weeklong festivities for Wal-mart shareholders and employees leading up to the shareholders meeting on Friday. Still no word on whether Idol winner and fellow Arkansan, Kris Allen will be performing for shareholders–as Idol winners typically do–on Friday. via Arkansas Democrat and Gazette
