Idol Headlines for 6/21/15

Adam Lambert presents and Tori Kelly performs on tonight’s Much Music Music Awards live from Toronto. Red carpet at 8 et, award show begins at 9 et.

Adam Lambert talks music, fame and pride – But Lambert, who has no plans to tour this year, is singing with greater attention to nuance and dynamic shading. He’s also leaving more space in his singing, rather than simply belting his vocals out. The impressive results suggest he has grown to realize the notes he leaves out are equally important to the ones he sings. “That’s a great observation,” Lambert said. “I don’t feel like I’m consciously holding back, but I feel like I’m not trying to show off. I’m trying to simply convey the emotion, in a much less overworked way. And I’ve had success with this in the past; it’s not like I’ve never done a subtle song. Read more at UT San Diego

Adam Lambert: ‘I’m not a diva!’ – The album’s been getting great reviews. How is everything going? I feel really confident. First of all, the songs are really strong. But secondly, I have an amazing team. In the past there were moments where I wasn’t too sure I was being looked after correctly and it made me nervous. Really? What are the warning signs when something goes wrong? When people don’t know about your album. When people aren’t interested. This time it’s clear my fans are on board and we’ve got people’s attention. – Read more at BBC.com

Jordin Sparks Confirms Her New Man on #SaturdayNightOnline – Looks like Jordin Sparks DEFINITELY has a new man, and she’s not afraid to show him off! The “Double Tap” singer was perched comfortably on the lap of Sage The Gemini during his Ask Anything Chat on Saturday Night Online Live with Romeo Saturday night — where fans submitted questions for Sage to answer — leading viewers to believe the rumors that have been swirling that the two are an indeed item. Sage even licked Jordin’s face, and we’re pretty sure that kind of PDA is only reserved for someone with girlfriend status. Confirmation of the romance happened later in the chat, when Erin from Ontario asked the “Good Thing” rapper, “What has been your biggest accomplishment in life?” Sage The Gemini’s answer? “Getting Jordin Sparks.” He followed the answer with a playful “nanny nanny boo boo.” Awww! – Read more at KFYR.com

Spike Lee, Jennifer Hudson Rally for Peace in Chicago – Jennifer Hudson joined Spike Lee and the cast of “Chiraq” at St. Sabina Church Friday evening for a peace rally protesting gun violence. “I’m a Chicagoan, and I’m here with my Chicagoans, right? And we’re all here for peace,” said Hudson, who is rumored to be a part of the cast. The event featured choir and spoken word performances, a prayer by Fr. Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina, a reading of the names of all those 21 and younger who were killed by gun violence this year and a call to peace by several gang members. “Chicago’s peace is our Selma. Brothers and sisters, it is time to cross the bridge,” actor John Cusack said in front of the crowd for a scene in the upcoming film. – Read more at Texas Home Page

Bixby’s Corey Kent White heads home for concerts, talks life, career strategy – Last Sunday, for the first time, he performed at CMA Fest in Nashville on the Chevy Roadhouse stage, designated for up-and-coming but basically unknown artists and singer-songwriters. After playing to a packed tent, he said it was “shocking” and “overwhelming” to see a line of people waiting to get his autograph and to talk a little bit. And it was “an unexpected surprise” that some fans even brought signs displaying his song lyrics. “It took over an hour, and I stayed there till every last person got through the line,” White said in a phone interview Wednesday. “It was so hot, but it was a lot of fun. It was really cool because there were people there from all over the country and 20 different countries. “It was really cool to see people from all over listening to my music and who knew the words to some of my songs.” – Read more at TulsaWorld.com
