‘The X Factor’: Behind the scenes at last night’s shocking elimination

Marcus stands alone: After Crow and Marcus Canty finished their save me songs, the crowd pretty much went bananas. Poor Marcus stood alone as everyone shouted “Rachel,” his face betraying a mix of “whaaat?” and “please God, let this be over soon.” To make matters worse, Scherzinger, Abdul, and Simon Cowell were all comforting the bawling Crow approximately five feet away from him. L.A. Reid finally left his chair to give his act a nice pat-on-the-back mere seconds before the commercial break was over, but I think the severe emotional damage had already been done.

X Factor’s Rachel Crow Wants To Take Care Of Sick Dad; Has Many Offers, Says Family Member

Rachel Crow’s shocking elimination on Thursday night’s X Factor isn’t going to stop her drive for fame and fortune because she’s determined to take care of her sick father, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

Rachel, 13, was adopted by Barbara and Kelly Crow when she was a baby and has made no secret of her family’s struggle — but according to one family member, has kept her father’s medical condition a secret.

“Rachel’s dad has MS (multiple sclerosis) and he can’t drive his truck because of it, so he’s not going to be able to always work,” a close family member who wishes to remain anonymous told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview.

ADAM LAMBERT: Rumors, Speculation And More…

I’m hearing the single release date in the US to radio is 12/18. Yes. That’s a Sunday. It coincides with – I’m told – an overseas date that Lambert will be performing at. Perhaps a fan can dig into this and let me know the specifics on this performance, etc.

I also he’s dropping the album single via iTUNES on 12/19, with, with wide release to follow, on the 20th, which is a Tuesday when all new music “releases” but am not certain that won’t change.

AUDIO: Carrie Underwood Promises “Crazy” 2012

By her own admission, Carrie Underwood says 2011 has been a “quiet” year for the Oklahoma superstar. Backstage at the American Country Awards press room on Monday night, she explained that 2011 was a time for her to enjoy being a newlywed to Mike Fisher, and to help her get ready for a “crazy” 2012. She spent much of the year writing for her new album, which she also explained would be out early next year.

Ruben Studdard Delivering Letters from Birmingham in March

Ruben Studdard’s pending divorce may have put his name back in the headlines, but the American Idol alum hopes to create a buzz of another kind with his new album Letters from Birmingham, set for release on March 13. The Alabama native whose 2003 debut disc Soulful spawned his hit single “Sorry for 2004,” has headed back to the studio, and he’s brought along veteran producers Harold Lilly and Blac Elvis. Between them, the two have worked with the likes of Alicia Keys, Luther Vandross and Beyonce, just to name a few.

Tracks on Ruben’s upcoming album are tied together by love letters, in a nod to The Notebook, of which movie buff Ruben is a fan. The disc is said to include some uptempo R&B and funk tracks, but it also boasts the ballads that the velvet-voiced crooner is known for.

Darren Criss on Lady Gaga Encounter: ‘Like Watching an Eclipse’

Criss didn’t actually get to speak with Mother Monster, but that didn’t put a damper on his evening.

“We just kind of gawked in silent wonderment,” he laughed. “She came in with her stilts and her crew of many, and we all had a really lovely moment together. It was like watching an eclipse.”

‘Glee’: Musician Greg Laswell Seeks Recognition for Cyndi Lauper Remake (Audio)

Laswell is frank in stating that he wishes that Glee would’ve referenced that his creative vision paved the way for its version of “Fun.” (In the show’s first season, Glee similarly shook up Billy Idol’s “Dancing With Myself” in the spirit of Nouvelle Vague’s more obscure, less rock-leaning version).

“Of the Glee version, I think they have enough talent over there that they shouldn’t need to go rummaging through other artists’ work.

“Public acknowledgement of their note-for-note rendition would have gone a long way.”

Singing Competition Fatigue? How Will ‘The X Factor’ Effect This Season’s ‘American Idol’ Ratings? (Poll)

An interesting question, that will be debated even once the ratings for this season’s American Idol are in is whether doubling up on the singing competitions by Fox will reduce the ratings for the networks crown jewel.

It’s fashionable among the TV media to predict ratings declines for Idol, but that’s like predicting rain on a cloudy day, most shows have ratings declines each season, and Idol’s have been fairly regularly in the 10-15% range since 2006:

Interesting ratings stats…
