The Many Talents of Camille Mana

….
MediaBlvd> Can you tell us about College, the movie you just finished up?

Camille>Yeah, it a teen comedy coming out January 4th from Lions Gate. And it kind of in the vein of Superbad and American Pie. And Id say it just as good as both of those, not your run of the mill teen comedy show. It starring Drake Bell and Haley Bennet from Music and Lyrics. Kevin Covais from American Idol, and Ryan Pinkston from Punkd, and myself, and some other fun young people who are up and coming. Im so excited. We did it in the Spring in New Orleans and it was kind of an interesting thing being on scene in New Orleans, because it definitely in a transitional space, which was kind of a bummer. But it really good that a lot of films are going into production there. It good for the city to have money coming in and stuff. But it was definitely an interesting experience. We were on location for a couple of months, so it was definitely a good Spring time experience. ……

Concert review: Versatile Kelly Clarkson powers through show

The men in suits don’t know, but the little girls understand.

Kelly Clarkson’s latest CD – the rocking, darkly confessional “My December” – was greeted with disdain from her label bosses and indifference from the same radio programmers who embraced her “Breakaway” album a couple of years ago. A summer tour slated to hit the HP Pavilion was scrapped, and the 2002 “American Idol” winner split with her manager.

But Clarkson clearly still has a loyal – and very shrill – following. When the 25-year-old Texan finally hit San Jose on Saturday for a sold-out show at the San Jose State University Event Center, young women (and a few enthusiastic guys) were screaming along to every angst-filled word Clarkson wrote for her latest disc – as well as jumping up and down to “Since U Been Gone.”……

…SONG(S) OF THE WEEK. The “American Idol” rematch between Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis is heating up, as both their new singles hit radio to promote their upcoming debuts. Sparks’ “Tattoo” (Jive) is simple and sweet, letting her vocals carry the song, which sounds like a poppier version of Rihanna’s “Umbrella.” Lewis’ “Break Anotha” (Arista) is more complex, with a clutter of rhythms and dance sounds spicing up a bit of Robin Thicke-styled R&B. Both will appeal to their fans, but Sparks’ offering could break through to a wider audience.

Google turns to X Factor’s Fuller for push into TV

Internet giant Google is in secret talks with Simon Fuller, the British entrepreneur behind the Spice Girls, about a joint venture that could change the way TV is watched over the internet.

News of the collaboration will prompt speculation that Google’s plans for the TV market include generating original content and competing with major broadcasters.

Executives from the £229bn internet giant have been in discussions with Fuller, who invented Pop Idol, the world’s most successful TV franchise, for about a year. Although details of the deal are a closely guarded secret, sources close to Fuller say it could revolutionise the way entertainment and music are distributed.

‘It’s a big idea on a global scale, ‘ he said. ‘It will change television in much the way iTunes changed the way music is disseminated.’ …………

Can American Idol Change the World?

Ive never been much of an American Idol fan. Ive always thought of it as just another dumb reality show ‘ and besides, something about Ryan Seacrest and that golden boy, bleached-white smile look of his creeps me out. Point being, Ive never watched a full episode since it first aired five years ago. How then, did I get addicted to a very similar show on Arab television? Back at home in New York City, my dad called me over to show me a program he had recorded; I guessed that it was probably an interview with a politician. Instead, it turned out to be the first episode of a new show called Star Academy on the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation………

Keri Hilson:Heat Seeker

…AllHipHop.com Alternatives: Where are you right now? What are you working on?

Keri Hilson: I am in Atlanta at the moment, working on a Pantene commercial and [working with] Blake Lewis [of American Idol]. And of course wrapping up my album in the nooks and crannies of time I steal in the midst of writing for other artists.
………
AHHA: Now I know that Polow Da Don kind of put you on ¦

Keri Hilson: Actually, I was alright writing. I had a couple of placements as a writer. I had worked with Usher, Ciara, Ruben [Studdard] and lots of other artists before even meeting Polow. So I was an established artist; however, not much was moving on the artist end. I wasnt really pursuing it though. I was kind of complacent. I just knew that the artist thing would fall into my lap. And it true ‘ shortly after I met Polow, things started moving because of him, definitely. He introduced me to Timbaland who, little did I know, was looking for a female R&B artist like myself. So Polow made the deal happen and lots of other things.
