Former ‘American Idol’ finalist Stephanie Edwards acquitted in fight case
Former “American Idol” finalist Stephanie Edwards today was acquitted on charges stemming from a March 2010 fight in Jackson Park.
Chatham County Chief State Court Judge H. Gregory Fowler entered the verdicts after a before-the-court hearing this morning.
Edwards, 23, was charged with fighting Laquilla White.

The X Factor: Miami Auditions Showcase Judges’ Personalities
The X Factor judges held auditions in Miami on June 14, and already the quartet of Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Nicole Scherzinger seems to be working like a well-oiled machine. Abdul says Cowell has mellowed a bit on the new show. “He’s gotten softer, but don’t tell him I said that, ” she told TV Guide Magazine. (In fact, when the judges introduced themselves at the beginning of the auditions, Abdul sat on Cowell’s lap and said, “I’m in love with Simon.”)

Academy Revises Best Picture Rules; Can Be 5 to 10 Nominees
As if taking a cue from TV’s reality shows, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has added what it called “a new twist” to its best picture category. At the upcoming 84th Academy Awards, there may not be 10 movies nominated for best picture. Instead, new voting rules could result in a anywhere from five to 10 nominees in the category.
Although the best picture Oscar race was expanded from five to 10 pictures just two years ago, the Academy board of governors voted Tuesday night to introduce a new procedure, which it said would add “a new element of surprise, ” since the number of movies that make the cut won’t be revealed until the best picture nominees are revealed at the nominations announcement Jan. 24.

‘The Glee Project’ Choreographer Says No One’s Panicking Over Low Ratings
Usually everything a phenomenon like ‘Glee’ touches turns to gold, but in the case of the Oxygen reality show ‘The Glee Project, ‘ a competition for one hopeful to win a seven-episode arc on the hit series, the magic touch isn’t quite there.
‘The Glee Project’ premiere drew just 455, 000 average viewers, while the ‘Glee’ finale, on the other hand, drew 12.5 million. While that’s a considerable jump, Zach Woodlee, choreographer on both ‘Glee’ and ‘The Glee Project, ‘ told AOL TV today that he didn’t think there was much panic over it.
“It’s a different project and a different network, ” said Woodlee. “Plus we were up against the Tonys, which is a lot of the same fan base.”
