John Lydon slams ‘poisonous’ Simon Cowell – In an interview with music paper NME, he said: “We had a ridiculous situation with American Idol when they wanted to use Pretty Vacant for this contestant because he was the ‘rock singer’ – the long hair and the scraggly beard and the leather jacket. “No, you cannot use it. Stop it. I don’t need someone imitating in that way. You’ve got the genuine article. What on earth do you want a fake phoney version like that for? Is that how it’s always going to be, according to Cowell’s universe?” – Read more at Telegraph.co.uk

Former ‘Idol’ bringing ‘Kellie country’ home – CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Kellie Pickler grew up in North Carolina, so she knows a little something about allergies and pollen-coated cars. Now, of course, the country singer who shot to stardom on “American Idol” in 2006 lives in Nashville, and knows a lot about the yellow stuff.
“Oh my gosh, it’s so bad. It’s about 10 times worse here,” says Pickler, 25, fighting through sniffles Tuesday during a phone interview from her home. “Nashville’s like a bowl. Everything falls down in it. And our winter wasn’t that good of a winter, so it makes the pollen even worse.” – Read more at WCNC.com

ENews Interviews Chris Colfer at the Struck By Lightning After Party

The “Glee” star-turned-screenwriter gushes about his new film “Struck by Lightning.” Plus, what did he learn from being around stars like Allison Janney?

Chris Colfer: ‘I Can’t Be Expected to Promote the Same Stuff in Everything That I Do’ – Struck By Lightning is a good-natured opportunity for Colfer to stretch his acting legs, but it doesn’t arrive without controversy. In one scene, Carson blackmails two gay students into writing for his magazine, threatening to out them if they don’t comply. The moment is particularly strange considering Colfer’s work — his Glee character Kurt has arguably advanced the acceptance of gay youth on television and Colfer continues this advocacy off screen. When I asked him if the scene aligned with his sensibilities, he seemed conflicted. “Isn’t that crazy? I hope they don’t get mad at me for that. I definitely thought they might, but I think they’d also want to me to handle high school how high school is. – Read more at Hollywood.com
