American Idol Finale: Hillary Clinton Giving Tickets To Supporters

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton still has some unpaid debt left over from her campaign. Now supporter James Carville is trying to help her finish it off — by offering some impressive prizes to anyone who pitches in. You could win a weekend with Carville and Paul Begala in Washington, a day with Clinton in New York, or tickets to the American Idol season finale (it doesn’t appear that Clinton or Carville will be attending.) No surprise, Idol takes the top spot on the list. Currently in its eighth season, the popular singing competition series lures some 6 million more viewers than prime time’s second most-watched series, ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, according to Nielsen Media Research. The result: The former notched an average of $623, 000 for a 30-second spot, while the latter scored $205, 000 for its results show (sixth place) and $196, 000 its performance-filled nights (seventh place).

Who Is Frankie Avalon And Why Was He On ‘American Idol’?

But on the “Idol” elimination show Wednesday night, host Ryan Seacrest pulled out a true head-scratcher during one of his latest bouts of teasing directed at judge Simon Cowell. Tuesday night’s “songs from the year you were born”-themed show featured a cute segment in which Seacrest showed off some pictures of the judges when they were children, during which he ribbed Cowell about an embarrassing kiddie pic in which the acerbic British judge was seen wearing a spaceman costume while unsmilingly pointing a toy gun at the camera.

‘American Idol’: Frankie Avalon reveals ‘Idol”s true roots

Frankie Avalon, brought on to the Idol stage for last night’s “songs from the year you were born” struck some folks as a head-scratcher. The reason is obvious, actually: Avalon’s 1959 hit “Venus” is two things: 1. exactly the kind of schlock the Idol aesthetic prizes (thus the standing-o he got from all four judges, because, y’know, it’s not art, but it’s the “whole package, ” as the judges like to say; he “brings it, ” dawg), and 2. exactly the kind of lousy pop music the Beatles, Motown and Stax Records, the electric Bob Dylan, and every other adventurous music act from the 1960s on through to today was meant to erase.

American Idol Next Elimination Most Likely To Be Anoop Desai Or Lil Rounds According To Betting Odds

Anoop Desai is the hot favourite to be the American Idol Next Elimination but there could be value in thinking he will last another week so there could be better bets out there to be next eliminated off American Idol.

Anoop Desai has defied the odds many times and no one thought he would make it to the last seven. He is the hot favourite to go next week, he is just 11/10 with Boylesports to be the next elimination. He seems to have gathered a bit of a cult following and he might just survive another week or two.

American Idol Betting Dominated By Adam Lambert And Danny Gokey As Scott Macintyre Gets The Boot

American Idol Betting Odds are still dominated by Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey after Scott Macintyre was voted off the show. Macintyre was one of the favourites to be the next eliminated from American Idol and there have been no major shocks so far in American Idol.

Adam Lambert seems to be getting stronger and stronger as the show goes on and it is no surprise that he has hardened in the betting as favourite once again after the latest round of voting. Punters looking to buy some quick money can now back Lambert at 8/15 with Boylesports.

More about my Lambert-hate

Adam Lambert fans/stalkers: Have you seen this? Bill O’Reilly did a segment on Lambert Monday night, splashing photos all over the place of Adam and another guy kissing. (Of course, O’Reilly found the photos so shocking — Gasp! — that he cropped it so as to obscure the two men’s offending non-heterosexual, yucky ol’ gay-type mouths.)

So guess who is getting my vote next week on “American Idol?” And every week after that? Adam.

Scott McIntyre: Nice guys finish eighth

Unlike previous years, it seems that this season of ‘Idol’ is beginning to fall into a predictable pattern. Wednesday’s elimination of Scott McIntyre was 100 percent correct, albeit emotional and somewhat dramatic with a split decision from the judges as to whether or not he should be saved.

Finishing eighth is dicey in terms of future success. Previous eighth place winners have included Michael Johns, Haley Scarnato, Bucky Covington, Nadia Turner, Jon Peter Lewis, Rickey Smith, and A.J. Gil. Of this group, only Bucky has had mainstream success, although it’s too soon to write off Michael John who is releasing an indie CD on June 23.

“American Idol” hates you.

OK, perhaps “hate” is too strong a word, but as Tuesday’s episode proved once more, the show treats its audience with tremendous disdain.

In case you missed it: “American Idol” ran eight minutes long, and DVRs all over America stopped recording before contestant Adam Lambert got to perform.

Video: David Alan Grier bitter about Dancing with the Stars boot

Wow — David Alan Grier, the comedian booted from Dancing with the Stars this week, let Access Hollywood know in no uncertain terms that he wasn’t happy about the decision, even though his elimination was likely due to viewer votes.

In an interview that had to be bleeped out several times, Grier had especially bitter words for judge Carrie Ann Inaba: “Several people can kiss my (bleep), but she’s definitely the first in line, ” said the comic, who was a fellow cast member with Inaba on In Living Color.

“Week after week, I spent so much time trying to breathe class into what was for me was a classless situation, ” he said about his experience on DWTS.

Tom Bergeron’s anger-management: The ‘Dancing with the Stars’ host on his hotheaded past

He may look eerily calm on “Dancing With the Stars” — remember the gallant way he handled Marie Osmond’s sudden fainting spell? — but uber-host Tom Bergeron wasn’t always so serene. In his early 20s, Bergeron told ABC News, “I just had a really short fuse, and it would never go off at other people, but mostly at myself or apartment walls.” Although “apartment walls, ” not people, got the brunt of his anger, Bergeron knew a change was in order. Today, he told ABC, producers often find him meditating in his room when they bust in “with news of the latest spray-tan meltdown.”
