“We are going to have a celebration and let her know how much we love her and miss her, ” said Adekola Adedapo, her mother. “The outpouring of support from this city has been absolutely amazing.”

Naima Adedapo’s family has arranged to have banners, African drums and flowers to cheer the return of Milwaukee’s “exotic flower, ” which is the translation of her name. Underwood adds acting to a full plate

Carrie Underwood certainly has her song-and-dance moves down to a multi-award-winning T.

Filming on location in Hawaii gave her a chance to try something new. “Being on stage, I know how to sing, and that’s what I do and I feel very at home, ” says Underwood. “But there, I was in other people’s world. I was surrounded by great actors and actresses. There was no ego involved with anyone in this movie. I got a lot of encouragement.”

Just don’t ask her to surf. “Noooooo, ” Underwood playfully responds when asked whether she hits the waves. “I went surfing once totally for a guy’s sake. I wasn’t terrible. We had one of those giant boards.”

Taylor Hicks on Singing ‘Friday’ With Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert: ‘Every Moment Was Absurd’

“The whole thing was genius in my opinion, ” Hicks tells THR of the bit, which featured Colbert singing a country-esque version of the party song. “Every moment was absurd: Fallon and Colbert in autotune, the hyper-glow Soul Patrol sweatshirt…”

Hicks was working on new music in Nashville when the call came from Fallon’s people. By the next day, he was in New York City and ready for his cue. “It all happened so fast, ” he says. “In 24 hours, I went from writing a record to doing ‘Friday’ with Colbert and Fallon, a beekeeper and a Yeti.”

Ellen DeGeneres’ return a boost for Universal, Orlando

OK, so we won’t give away too much here, but if you’re severely allergic to spoilers, turn away … now!

Can’t be sure what all will get cut in editing — both tapings exceeded the hour mark. We did hear Duran Duran do three songs for Tuesday’s show and Kelly Clarkson did a medley of her hits for Wednesday. Actually, she did it twice, I think, for technical reasons. Both times the CityWalk crowd automatically jumped and pumped to “Since U Been Gone.” It may be genetic.

‘Glee’s’ Ryan Murphy Backs Off Kings of Leon Attack (Exclusive)

The showrunner tells THR the feud has taught him a lesson: “Don’t say f*** you to someone in the press.”

“I didn’t speak with as much clarity as I would have liked, ” he said on the set of Glee Friday afternoon. “Who am I to say ‘F–k you?’ That’s not what I meant. I completely understand when artists don’t want a show or another artist to interpret their songs. In fact, I respect it. It’s their personal work and I’d feel the same way. We get turned down all the time and I’ve don’t fight it or even go back after a rejection.”

Murphy points to a recent request to use a song by Bjork in the show, which the Icelandic singer turned down. “She read the scene and didn’t think it was the right fit for her song, ” he recounts. “I told her, ‘That’s completely cool, ‘ and she said to come back to her down the road. We deal with that every day.”
