Jessica Simpson Is a ‘Frontrunner’ to Judge The X Factor

Although buzz about which celebrities could join Simon Cowell’s new show The X Factor is already going strong, a new name has been added to the mix: Jessica Simpson is a frontrunner to become one of the judges alongside Cowell, a show insider tells PEOPLE.

“There [are] loads of conversations happening at the moment, ” says the source. “No one has been offered a judging role yet as new names keep coming forward who want the role, but there are some frontrunners and it’s fair to say Jessica is one of them. She’s very keen.”

Country singer Pickler to headline NCAA festival

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Women’s Final Four basketball tournament will host a free festival headlined by country music star Kellie Pickler.

The former “American Idol” finalist will perform April 2 in the Indianapolis Convention Center along with Indiana native Casey Jamerson, who will perform the same day as part of the “Tourney Town” festivities.

Simon Cowell, 51, didn’t just quit American Idol. Sources tell UsMagazine.com the acid-tongued Brit also dumped one of the show’s biggest advertisers, Coca Cola.

With Pepsi signing on as the official sponsor of Cowell’s upcoming talent contest, The X Factor, he has gone to extreme lengths to show his new allegiance. “Simon has had his staff and housekeeps clear out all the Coca Cola products in his homes and offices to make way for Pepsi, ” says a source close to the star.

Simon Cowell ‘couldn’t care less’ what Steven Tyler says about him

According to The Mirror in England, Tyler said: “I think one of the biggest problems was Simon hurt people. His comments were nasty. It was too much. I’ve tried to be myself and be different to Simon. If people like it, then that’s great.”

Cowell, in Los Angeles preparing for opening auditions of The X Factor there on March 27, feigned hurt when asked about Tyler’s comments: “Poor Simon.” Reverting to form, he then said, “I couldn’t care less.”

Last month, UK’s Daily Mail reported that singer Cee Lo Green, 36, turned down a gig on Simon Cowell’s new talent contest, The X Factor, but a rep for the show tells UsMagazine.com that’s not the case.

“A meeting with Cee Lo did take place and the show was discussed, but he was never offered a role, ” says the rep.

A staff-wide memo from Sony Corporation president Sir Howard Stringer confirms what had been rumored for months: Universal Music Group chairman Doug Morris is heading to Sony Music as Chief Executive Officer. He replaces outgoing chairman Rolf Schmidt-Holtz, who will depart the company at the end of his contract on March 31. Morris will start on July 1.
